Luigi's Mansion seems to boot and work with swapped .gcm (First 5 minutes anyway!)
Oh dear.. there goes my whole day..
Edit: The first cutscene didn't play at all. I'm guessing it's something to do with hagi.config?
Didn't touch the rom.json or hashes at all and seems to work right out of the box?
Try a more demanding game, like Twilight Princess or Wind Waker. To find out if you don't have the lag that Dolphin produces with those games.

I really hope there will be an easy way to not hack your Switch but being able to load other GCM files :-)
The closest thing is EMUNAND

EDIT: Also, this will use LayeredFS to load other ROMS. So it will not modify your NAND. If you have the original game, you have a very low chance of being banned.

I'm sure whatever way it gets used, the top men will make it as painless as possible.
From the little bit that i've seen, it SEEMS like it could be easy enough. Just gotta work out some kinks.

Someone is talking about this stuff on Twitch right now, but I cannot understand them due to them speaking spanish. Maybe someone who speaks english and spanish would be as kind as to do a translation with major notes?

no veo mas la transmisión, supongo que es RetroGaming?. tratare de compartir lo que está haciendo este tío. Eso si, uso traductor.

"Galaxy in particular is really interesting. It appears they recompiled the original code to run natively on the Switch CPU, but everything else (GPU/Audio) is running in the emulator. Interesting trick!"

Isn't that still a port if only some parts are emulated?

Anyway, I'm curious if someone will take advantage of this emulator to attempt rom injection, Who knows perhaps other gamecube titles could work?

I don´t think them using emulators is such a bad thing in the big picture. It is probably the first stage to bring a lot of older games to a "virtual console" like service now they got the emulators in place.

Agreed, if they said remastered for these games it'd be different. But either way, it's games people have been dying to have on the newest system since forever! I mean if they went ahead and did the same as with Virtual Console for a lot of other GC and Wii games, they'd be Top Sellers in no time.

Isn't that the definition of a port though? How is that emulation?
I think what it does is basically dynarec, but already compiled and ready to go, so it would not have to do it at runtime, effectively saving a lot of CPU for the remaining stuff like GPU and sound emulation.

But that is just my own theory.

But I have to install something to run emunand right?
I have never created or used Emunand. I would like to help you, in fact I tried to write something to explain you, but I realized that I don't know where EMUNAND runs the CFW atmosphere and the modifications to load the ROM from LayeredFS. Suddenly it does the same as CFW in SysNAND (Internal memory), from the MicroSD, but I am not sure.

When you install EMUNAND I help you a bit to load your own custom ROMs (when the first patches are available to modify the game. It is just a matter of reading some tutorials on GBATEMP about EMunand.

At the moment it is easier to load ROMS from RetroArch or Lakka. Hopefully this matures, unless you're empirical and like experimenting on the go.

EMULATOR: COMPILATION OF THE ORIGINAL GAME (ROM) EMULATING THE SYSTEM WHERE IT WAS COMPILED INTO A NEW HARDWARE.
PORT: NATIVELY COMPILED VIDEO GAME ON NEW HARDWARE.
REMASTERED: NATIVELY COMPILED VIDEO GAME ON NEW HARDWARE IMPROVEMENTS
REMAKE: A NEW VIDEO GAME THOUGHT ON THE NEW HARDWARE

If you put it like this, most (if not all) arcade games "conversions" on the Amiga were actually remakes.
Final Fight, for example, was a remake. It may have been the only fully uncensored western home version of this game, but it was rewritten from scratch.

nothing is worse than sony who can't make their own god damn emulator for a mini console i doubt MS would even stoop so low to using cxbx reloaded for the series X/S if it needed emulation for og xbox games

Alright, I've been messing around with some stuff and decided to put a ttyd rom named Super_Mario_Sunshine_Stardust-trimmed.gcm into the romfs/MarioSunshine folder. Nothing changed on my end. I know some people have got other games to boot (like Luigi's Mansion) does anyone know how?

The Luigi's Mansion guy (sevarg) clearly trolled. He made that claim without delivering any proof (images or videos) and then went to work / sleep - to come back to a shitload of likes and replies. I would love to be proven wrong in this case.

That was obvious from the start, do you really think their going to waste time to make it look like they were working on it from scratch. Isn’t almost every port of any game emulated by a emulator. I’m pretty sure switch online is considered a emulator. I believe all the classic mini consoles released was made based on using a emulator. The only thing I wouldn’t say was obvious was the part with them using more than one emulator.
