Hello all. I've been playing New Horizons a lot lately and it's awesome. Now I'm thinking about picking up the 3DS version to play in bed before I go to sleep.
But is it worth it, or can I better play the Switch in bed rather than the 3DS New Leaf? Never played New Leaf, only the Gamecube one.

The villagers arent boring, theres more species to catch, more NPCs with their own shops, tools wont break, the works. ACNH is just half of new leaf with better graphics

I wouldn't mind tools breaking if it were the same system as in Breath of the Wild where you see your weapons flash before they break. Very cool to know they have their own shops. Which shops are NH lacking?

That's way more than on the switch.
I just started and my house is a mess, anyway to storage? Or isn't that in this game?
I want to check all for myself without using the internet, but asking because it's a big mess and want to keep everything because I don't know what you can do.

I found am emerald, so you can craft here aswell? If so, cool.
I'm not able to put furniture on the ground outside like in NH. But I'm still enjoying the game so far. Probably need to upgrade Nook for the wetsuit, at least if it's the same as in NH.

You eventually unlock a huge storage locker that you can access from within your house. I think you unlock it when you pay off the upstairs floor - it's one of the new things introduced in the Welcome Amiibo version. (You also gain the ability to move items around using the touch screen.)

You can also store items in the exhibit rooms of the museum (after you gain access to them), or in the post office by mailing items to yourself. Or you can just add an extra player-controlled villager and store things there.

Sure you can - it just doesn't look like anything, and Isabelle will tell you that the town is a mess.

Probably need to upgrade Nook for the wetsuit, at least if it's the same as in NH.
You can occasionally get the wetsuit from Tortimer Island, but you have to play the minigames many times before you'll be able to afford it.

Or you can just go online and see if someone will trade you one. I might suggest the ACtrade reddit, but I'm not sure if everyone there has moved on to ACNH already. Also the mods are vicious and you can probably expect to be banned if you stick around for long enough. (ETA: Apparently r/AnimalCrossingTrading is where it's at now?)

ETA: Or you can just edit your save file and give yourself one if you don't want to bother going about things the hard way. :-P It's not really in the spirit of things, but reading what people have posted about ACtrade around the Internet, I'd probably prefer to do it that way. Running JKSM through Browserhax is quick and easy; you don't need to do a full CFW install.

Not really. You can use minerals to change the color of a small range of items, and you can use gold nuggets to get random pieces of gold furniture. And you can get models of fossils, but you'll probably want to finish the museum first.

Now I'm thinking about picking up the 3DS version to play in bed before I go to sleep.
Have you considered Pocket Camp for Android? There's not much to it - meaning you might actually get some sleep.

My wife still has a great time with New Leaf, but I didn't stick with it like I did with Wild World back in the day. I think with the island, they just made it far too easy to earn bells too fast. I mean, in a real-time day or two you can kinda make enough to already pay off your house. I always loved AC for its slow-paced, worry-free thing that just allowed you to kinda leave the real world behind for a while. New Leaf is still a great AC game, but just wasn't for me personally.

I enjoy it so far, though I don't play it a lot, only before sleep lol, so I've set the time like switched day and night. Haven't time traveled since then. So my house takes a while for it to pay off. Too bad you can't put furniture outside like in NH, that's why I don't understand how some people enjoy New Leaf more. But ofcourse I enjoy New Leaf.

Not sure how it is too easy to earn bells, at least according to you. I see things are way worth less. A cowrie just worth 24 bells and a Barred Knifejaw 4000 for example. Giant clem just 360, but it's alright.

I may have to unlock more things at some point. But I want to figure that out myself.
All that, I think it's a great game. Been playing it for a few days now without time traveling besides the day and night swap. Otherwise I'm always with a closed Nook.

I agree, even fishing on the Island seems like a really, really slow way to earn Bells.

It seems to me like the fastest way is to sell your Perfect Fruit in another town where it isn't native, especially on a day when there's a bonus for selling them. But even then, since you can't hold too many Bells at once, it's a very tedious business.

Or you can go for Turnips, of course, but then you're dependent on the RNG.
