If you have a NAND backup, you can restore it with a hardmod.

I may be wrong but I'd wager a lot don't bother with a backup. I know I didn't. Mainly because of needing the hard mod to restore it. Given the cost in materials and time to install it it seems easier and not that much more expensive to just buy a new Wii U (for me would include soldering gear, practice items,etc). Also despite knowing how to use it properly I also decided against CBHC and just stuck with the regular version. I trust me not to screw it up but not necessarily others that might use it.

@alexander1970 : I meant why after all the warnings it gives about it bricking the console and all the people who have dont it and regretted it in the past over years, why would anyone even think to try it. I realise the answer is stupidity, but they must have had some reason for trying it.
