Vizio announces partnership with 'Marvel’s Avengers' and optimized TVs for next-gen consoles

Vizio, the American-based TV brand, has announced today that they partnered with Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics as the official HDTV and sound bar partner for the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers. Vizio’s 2021 TVs 4K TVs are said to pack a "dedicating gaming engine" and optimized for next-gen gaming performance. Their new line of IQ 4K HDR processors and ProGaming Engine models claims to offer faster response times and premium picture quality to optimize the overall experience. Vizio mentions support for 4K at 120fps, variable refresh rates, and automatic low latency mode switching when game sources are detected.

Details on how Marvel’s Avengers will utilize these features was not revealed but the deal also extends to Vizio's 5.1-channel soundbars. Of note is their Elevate Sound Bar which features rotating speakers when it detects Dolby Atmos or DTS:X sound and could be interesting to see it function with the PS5's 3D audio, although Vizio did not mention anything about this in particular.

I am sure your power company loves you and the one that sold it to you too. That is unless it took the place of an electric heater.
While going for an LED may be about %34 less expensive when it comes to consuming power, it might be worth the trade off for 1.)The quality of picture, 2.)The cost difference of not having to buy an LED TV in 2009, instead. An electric heater uses about 1500 watts compared to the 90-150 watts that the two kinds of tvs use.

Also, why would the power company love the women who sold her expensive power consuming tv away?

Plasma of suitable size usually clock around 300 watts and get rather warm too. Keep one of them on for 12 hours a day (or longer) and that adds up quickly -- I repaired one for someone a couple of years back and we figured out that as it was his kitchen TV on all the time then it was cheaper over the course of a year or so to buy a new one. Equally around here people seemed in a great hurry to get rid of plasma, especially as many did not necessarily have HDMI, particularly high res, want to deal with burn in, or care for the mounting efforts on their walls, assuming they did not skip straight from nice CRTS to early LCD efforts, second hand prices meant more than a few ended up going right in the skip/recycling plant as well.

While burn-in is my biggest complaint about plasmas, the $160 per year to keep it powered 12 hours a day, 7 days a week is a lot cheaper than the cost of a space heater.

My point is that on the list of negatives about plasma tvs, the power consumption is not all that high, as the plasma tvs were considered more energy efficient for their generation. It's not as much of a savings in power to upgrade from a plasma to an LED as it is to upgrade to LED lightbulbs.

Once the newer tech gets cheap enough, and good enough quality, the older generation will naturally become obsolete.

I imagine as OLED tvs get cheaper, there will be a sweet price spot for people to make the switch.. but for now they are dropping faster in price compared to the money potentially saved in power, per year... so it isn't exactly a loss for those who do not like the standard LEDs.

Also, VIZIO is garbage anyway--not worth the trade off, so I would recommend a different brand.

190 watts doesn't seem much to me. It is not a Panasonic, but I understand what you mean, some Plasmas used to use about 500 watts. Not my case though ;)

So your trolling intent is quite ridiculous to me, it does not get hot either, not at all, so I am very happy with it.

Huh. I always like hearing about neat little partnerships like this. Especially considering that the only TV in my house that isn't a Vizio is my CRT. Don't know how it lined up like that with three roommates, but, whatever.

I'm guessing they'll be damn expensive, though.

My $250 Vizio is higher quality than my $1600 TV from 4 years ago. Is it as good as a $1600 TV today? Of course not, but it's a damn good value. And the $300 TV in 4 years will almost certainly be better than the $1600 one from today.

I don't believe that whatsoever. My 2017 P55-E1 Vizio was $1,000 and there's zero $250 televisions in existence in 2020 that would outperform it, let alone a $1600 set from 3-4 years ago. What are the model numbers of your Vizio and the 4 year old set?

I read it as being super-hyperbolic for the intent of expressing how fast these tvs get reduced in price--my take away was that you can always hold out for a better deal while you enjoy the working tv you already have, though it seems like he was saying that he can buy a new tv every 4 years.
