Read something the other day that said over 80% of PSVR releases are very good, novel experiences that use the hardware well compared to the slop that is all over PC. Anyone got one? Does it matter if you're running a Base or Pro for VR? Worth it?

I have been thinking of picking one of these up for a long time (heard they are very good), but as mention above think I will wait until it drops to around the £100 or less mark.

Tried one out recently. At first I was "eh" then once it kicked in I was impressed.

Reasons why its initially underwhelming is that the screens feel super low res and when things are static you see jaggies everywhere which is crap if you've watched youtube videos of people playing PSVR as it looks nothing like that IRL. The slave output renders like a PS4 would whilst the headset is evidently doing some kind of trickery which leads to an image that badly needs aliasing and is not as sharp.

Once you actually get into it though and stuff is moving you stop noticing it and the immersion kicks in and it truly feels like a nex gen leap like 8 to 16 Bit was back when as there is nothing comparable to it. Its still early tech and in many ways it shows, don't expect picture perfect immersion until 16K resolution helmets are the standard as it still feels like a work in progress compared to what it could be.

Reason why I say 16K is because then the resolution will be high enough to approximate the feel of a 4K screen placed inches in front of your eyes but all in all its quite an experience. The switch from TV to PSVR feels like you're playing on a different screen - because you are - except its of lower quality as the colours, sharpness, depth etc aren't as good as a real display but the immersion offsets all of that as its crazy being able to turn your head around and look anywhere plus the V2 headset is very comfortable.

Overall, at £100 this is a must have as its worth that plus given that the PS5 will still be using the current headset as the standard until they reveal the upgrade later into its lifecycle is makes a decent investment. Getting hold of the Move controllers is apparently a bit of a faff as the demand outstrips supply also I wouldn't recommend buying a second hand one as its quite an intimate experience.

Damn, getting the v2 kit plus the move controllers adds up to more than I was hoping, we'll see.

I'm sure I'll cave pretty soon tbh, was just playing Tetris Effect for the first time (on a TV) last night, already intense af, can't imagine how quick my brain would melt playing that in VR.

I got my V2 in a Black Friday sale with games and the move controllers. I’m a big fan of the PSVR, however there are quite a few games that you would probably categorise as shovelware. I would say it’s 65% of them that are awesome games. It’s definitely worth it in my opinion, there is a lot of fun to be had when you find a game you gel with!

No doubt its impressive and the fact that the current hardware will be supported on the PS5 is a great sign even if it means it probably won't hit cheapo bargain basement clear out prices because of that - at least until the new VR comes around.

Since the reveal of the 5 and its style it always made sense they'd tie the PS4 VR headset into the experience as they've both got the same aesthetic.

People have been picking up V2 headsets with 2 Move controllers for around £180 which is quite a decent price, all things considered. Used I've seen headsets go for around £100 alone but the controllers always command a high price as they don't seem to be producing enough of them to keep up with demand.

Like I said I wouldn't buy a second hand one, there is literally no way you could hygienically clean some strangers filth off it because its literally a sweatband with goggles and thats before we get into the earphones.

Some of the games really look awesome, the one where you're in an FPS where things stop moving when you do is very cool and the rhythm action one is stunning but you can't add any extra tracks which is a bit of a pisser.

How much was it on a Black Friday? I know we won't necessarily see the same deals again this year but it's something to go on.

Yeah £180 with move controllers is more like what I was hoping for, the ebay listings I looked at were closer to that price without controllers, and a pair of those could be nearly another hundred. Maybe auctions turn out better than buy it now.

I played Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on PS4 pro VR , really couldn't finish the game because it was making me dizzy, played the ASTRO BOT it's a platformer demo for VR kinda thing.

Alex on steam looks amazing but really depends on which VR machine you use, the more expensive the better the experience

I think PS4 VR is a somewhat balanced experience so I think it's a good choice to try the new technology and get a taste of it. But if you are into VR go to PC, quality VR games on PC is the way to go, more options and tons of games you can try
