Crash Bandicoot 4 Switch version potentially revealed via website source code

aaUntitled.png

Crash Bandicoot 4 is on its way to launching later this fall, for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This leaves Nintendo Switch fans in the dust, especially given the fact that the Crash N.Sane Trilogy was previously released on the console. However, not all hope is lost just yet, as Activision may have just unintentionally outed a port of Crash 4 for the platform. On the official website for the game, you can see that pre-orders are live for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which is fairly obvious, but if you dig into the source code of the website, it also shows a hidden option to buy the game on the Switch. While this doesn't confirm a port to the system, it seems very likely, especially when this incident has happened before, with Activision accidentally letting a pre-order page for Spyro: Reignited Trilogy for PC and Switch go up weeks before the ports were officially confirmed.

Web developer here. This really doesn't mean anything. As probable as it is for a game like this to get a Switch port, it's just as probable for a website to use a reusable component which references Switch even if there are no plans for Switch at all. That is to say, there is code which is shared between multiple sites, intended to be used for a variety of games. It has Switch built-in as an option of course because it's one of the main video game platforms. But then there is a totally separate list for validation which includes all of the platforms the game will actually be on, and it just uses that block there to look up the label.

Or another possibility is that it's not really reused code, but rather the developer who worked on it was not privy to the details of what platforms it would be on. Logically they would just build in labels for everything that makes sense, and someone else would fill in the real list.

If the game has the same buy crap that the Kart game then no Switch release.

If it does not then maybe a Switch release.

I read that the quarantine has seen like a forty+ percent increase in sales of the switch, so it would be foolish not to release it on there. I was bummed when I first saw the trailer. I bought the nsane trilogy (not very good at it), but I think I can get into it especially coming off of odyssey. though, I kinda wanna play an rpg. I did get paper mario and dragon quest xi. I beat the original dq trilogy several months ago, so it might be nice to settle down with one of those.

Eh, more like getting more sales. People with both a Switch and a PS4/PS4 Pro is rare.

Heck the main selling point of the Switch on release was it being cheaper and Zelda.

I don't have a PS4, the games for it are freaking expensive.

As mentioned previously, a lot of people do have both.

I own a PS4 pro and a Switch. The PS4 is used for gaming on the TV while switch is mostly used as a portable (hence I buy a lot of JRPG's and similar games).

PS4 games are way cheaper than Switch games. The value of the games drop after a few months versus Nintendo selling a 3 year old game for $60. Owning a switch is more costly than owning a PS4.

Ah but several games are cheaper on the Switch.

I guess it depends were you live.

There's really no reason for it not to come to Switch. It's not a particularly great looking title judging by the footage I've seen.

that means this game will be bad for definite.

it should be ps5 and pc exclusive. dat ssd.
There's not much benefit to SSDs for gaming. Games can actually perform worse when running from an SSD.

Cry me a river and get a fucking PC, graphics snob
