From there the calculation goes as follows, what platform do we expect to sell the most copies on? PS4? could we raise desire? Sure give them an exclusive that makes them feel special. How much of a hinderance would that exclusive be for the rest of our product to get sold on other platforms?

What you said is just silly, it's just leveraging their competitive advantage, they have the home console rights to Spider-Man and are using that fact for their gain, like any other company would.

there are alot of fun spider man games...

spiderman ps1 for its time it was incredible fun and actualy good.

spider man 2 ps2/xbox/gc incredible fun

spider man shatered dimensions was great, 4 diferent play styles and such

ultimate spider man was also good since it followed the comics and was actualy refreshing playing as the villain also.

spiderman ps4 is ok, i think its abit too overrated imo, i had more fun on all those 4 games abode than spider man ps4

Marvel ultimate alliance 1 and 2 were also mindless fun and spiderman was in them

insomnia games has exclusive rights to create spider-man specific/focused games, aka spider-man games. While Sony has the movie rights for Spider-man movies. Marvel still owns the character it. Sony definitely paid money to make spider man and the spider-man family/friends of spider heroes exclusively playable to the ps4. I say playable because the game is supposed to be cross-playable, so xbox still needs the spidey assets.

Spider-Man was never an Avenger in the comics anyway, so it may be more authentic to not play on PlayStation.

He may have been more recently, but originally he may have helped the Avengers, but was separate, like the Fantastic 4, or the X-Men.

he joined in the 90s and then joined during civil war and so on, many heroes go back and forth being on avengers teams, sure he had lots of guest appearences but he was an official menber on 1991 and foward(but reserve menber only called when needed) then he was out then back in and then was out again during the superior spiderman story and so on.

so much like preety much 90% of all marvel characters, we was an official avenger from times to times.

so yes he was an official avengers on 1991 and then 2004to recently like 4 years ago or something when he was kicked out due to superior spider man story.

Reading the comments here wondering how anyone could see this as greedy. Sony is paying for extra content to make their version of the game the best version of the game for their customers for free. It's a gift for buying their version of the game that benefits them very little because it's a third party game.

Except Squeenix already confirmed that all new character and location DLC will be free, not paid. The only additional shit you'll have to pay for is cosmetic stuff and that's it.
