Xbox Source Code and code for Windows NT 3.5 leaked online. The Xbox Source includes kernel for the operating system on the original hardware.
Microsoft is aware of the leak that appeared ealier this month: “We’re aware of these reports and are investigating,”

The Xbox OS leak includes some build environments, the Xbox Development Kit, emulators used for testing, and internal documents.

I am almost getting leak fatigue right now.

Xbox wise without any keys I am not sure this gains much of anything. Maybe before xbox live was kicked in the head it might have meant something but today I would take almost any other dashboard over a sliced up version of the MS original. Might get a nice exploit that would not have been discovered otherwise but we already have a bunch of easy to run ones so unless it is plug and play with say a burned DVD, done over network or similar where no custom hardware or screwdrivers are involved it will not gain much.
Dev kits/SDKs have been available since the thing was current, indeed most homebrew used them hence having to fish it out of random FTP sites, build source code or find interesting discs.

Windows NT source code is however more interesting. That is way old (1994 if memory serves) and way before the 9X and NT lines were united but I imagine there is still enough leftover code in there that something interesting could happen or have ripple effects up to the modern day or still relevant modern systems.

The xbox kernel source leak isn't new. It circulated way back in the day between scene groups, and has been leaked publicly for a few years now. The guy who wrote that Verge article doesn't seem to have done his research, and now all the other news sites have got the wrong idea (and just cite said article as their only source, surprise surprise).

Now, the private OG xbox dashboard leak on the other hand... there's something I'd love to see surface.

Edit: Well, it seems I jumped the gun, this xbox leak does in fact contain some brand new stuff after all, after taking a look at it.

I already downloaded the NT35 source code, however my programming levels are very basic.
A couple of years ago I had Visual Studio 2010 installed but I wasn't using it as much, so I didn't reinstall it after formatting the PC in 2018.

Currently the Github we have the File Manager (AKA WinFile.exe) uploaded and updated by Microsoft itself. Making it possible to run on newer versions of Windows, So having the original and the modified source code, I think it would be possible to also make compatible the Program Manager (AKA ProgMan.exe) with Windows 10.

The file contains from the source code of the Windows installer, the accessory programs, control panel, including Solitaire and Reversi.

Would anyone like to do it?I don't know if we can share the file with the forum source codes. If someone wants them, they can ask me by private message or I will publish it here if it is allowed.

In the article and on Twitter it's written that the xbox part of the leak has been passed around privately among enthusiasts previously. So, probably, it's the "Barnabas" leak...

Are you referring to the "Barnabas" leak? This isn't that.

Do you have the leak of the article to say that with certainty?

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

If you can find enough for it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
