Hello, love.
Where can I find the download links to 19.10 please?

20.7 doesn't have Trinity rescue kit?

I am also having trouble to load any Linux OS with or without Memdisk.
You can find links to MediCat USB v19.10 at "that bay site" and it's mirrors, which I cannot link to here. (I hope you understand, YARR!)

I heard you loud and clear. I wasn't sure about the authenticity of MediCat USB Stable v19.10 - [Jayro] **OFFICIAL**, but if you are the one and only, I'd trust you.
Thank you and have a nice summer.

I'm currently banging my head trying to extend the main partition to fit on the whole drive. I saw in an earlier post that the solution is to move the EFI partition in front of the main one so the main one can be extended. However, I have been unable to do that with any of the partition tools I tried, both on the mounted image file and the USB drive itself.

How can I move the EFI partition properly?

I use MiniTool partition wizard Enterprise (portable version) and it works for me. Just make sure you leave 1MB of padding (unpartitioned space) on both sides of the EFI partition.

Use MiniTool partition wizard to move the EFI partition to the right, and expand the other partition.

I actually go camping this weekend, so this will be fun. Then I'll start work on the new v1.0.16/v20.07.1 build when I get back and unpacked.

I will be acquiring some cheap 32GB USB 2.0 USB sticks soon, and will be doing a giveaway, and mailing them out with the latest version of MediCat USB pre-flashed to them. B-)

Not sure how I want to go about deciding who gets one, or when... but I'll figure something out. But I'm open to suggestions. :toot:

Quick question. Whenever I update Ventoy to the latest version I have to go manually to the Ventoy hidden partition and manually edit the grub.cfg file there and make "set VTOY_DEFAULT_MENU_MODE=1" is there a way to set up your defaults so when you update ventoy it will set your defaults automatically??

Thanks.

It says on the Ventoy site how to edit ventoy.json in a text editor and it will override any settings.

I read that and I did the .json file and did put it in the ventoy folder and still nothing changes. I know I am surely doing something wrong but I just can't figure it out. :(

One thing that s annoying is the creator never explains the folder structure, so I'm just as confused about stuff as you guys.

I did it all over again from the beginning, the Windows installation in BIOS mode hangs with the missing driver message.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

This version 20 is pretty good and flexible.

I experienced several issues and/or improvements (just my 2 cents):

#1/ during the flash process, I tried to expand the partition, it failed. As a consequence, I had a filled partition where I could not add files and the VTOYEFI partition and a lot of empty space. Can VTOYEFI partition be at the beginning of the disk and the MEDICAT one filling the key?
EDIT : moving it to the end using MiniTool Partition Wizard should work

#2/ Download was a pain because of Google/Mega limitations, torrent is unusable in France because of HADOPI false positives (I strongly encourage French users seeing this post to STOP using torrent, even if this is a legal download), maybe there can be another mirror?

#3/ Downloading 20 GB is OK for such quality, but maybe there should be some king of an update of the actual key? Maybe a script/EXE which will update the MEDICAT files (from official mirrors), can reinstall the bootloader (in case of corruption), and retrieve ISO files from their official sites (which you can then easily md5sum and rename)?
EDIT : 20.08 comes with UPDATE. Just take care to remove old ISO files to avoid several versions of the same tool

#4/ I used the minitool parition wizard as suggested to move the VTOYEFI partition, leaving 1 MB before and after. It worked (tried several boot). I updated the portableapps, added a couple of ISO and now, the key boots on a black screen, nothing happens. It occurred twice. I removed the PortableApps folder (and another folder), they weight 200K files, the key booted correctly
EDIT : I need to check my keep but I might have accidentally deleted ".ventoyignore" and ".nomedia" files at the root of the big folders

#5/ When booting, I can see grub errors, but it is too fast, I cannot tell what it is, maybe some syntax error somewhere
EDIT : this seems to happen on some computers (old ?)

#6/ Ventoy got updated to 1.0.16, because of my black screen, I tried to update it, I had 3 problems: partition was not of the correct type (EF), partition was not at the correct position (I assume it had to be aligned when I moved the partition), partition size was incorrect (32 MB). After correcting those 3 errors, Ventoy detected the key and update successfully (tried under Windows 10 and Linux). This did not solved the black screen issue (caused by too many files). I lost the categories (all ISO are in the same list). Because of the partition type change, I cannot assign again the drive letter under Windows.
EDIT : with 20.08 UPDATE, the ventoy files can be simply copied over the actual key without issue

#7 I added CloneZilla, only AMD64 (stable and alternate) was able to boot, with memdisk enabled, but it took about 5 minutes to start booting

I hope this will help
