first it isnt possible without rcm mode except you buy a mariko or switch lite and install a sx core or lite...second that thingy (jig) costs like 2-5 dollars.

Does this thread not know what pegascape is?

to OP: for most units, you can't. The only units that can technically avoid going directly to RCM are switches under firmware 4.1

  1. If the Switch is RCM vulnerable, and you want to use an RCM exploit, you must have a way to enter RCM. The paperclip method is free, and you only need to do it once in order to install AutoRCM. Once AutoRCM is installed, you don't need a jig anymore. I recommend using the paperclip method to install AutoRCM if you have the correct sized paperclips.
  2. If the Switch is on 1.0.0, 2.0.0-3.0.0, or 4.0.1-4.1.0, regardless of whether or not it's RCM vulnerable, you can enter CFW using software exploits, and you don't need a jig to enter RCM.
  3. If the Switch is not on one of the above system versions and is not RCM vulnerable, you need a TX modchip to be able to enter CFW.

I do not want to spend the money to get the little recovery mode thingy
why do people want everything for free these days, the jigs are less than a mcdonalds and you have a problem paying for it?

make one yourself, if the OP dont want spend money on a jig can't seem them paying out for a modchip

If they manage to turn their Nintendo Switch into recovery mode they still cant do homebrew. You don´t even need a ´´thingy´´ The hairpin of the random chick in town will do the trick. If you ain´t cheep enough to buy her a drink.

The drink would be more expensive than a jig, for sure, so probably not the best option for the OP. But, yeah, sometimes I have to wonder how someone could afford to buy a Switch if he can't afford a jig.
