Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase - Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne gets HD remaster

maxresdefault-10-5-e1594310543591.jpg

It may not be the grand Nintendo Direct many were hoping for, but today's Nintendo Direct Mini will give us an idea of what games we can hope to see release on the Nintendo Switch in the future, courtesy of Nintendo's partners. Who knows what will be shown? The only way to find out is to watch, when the Direct Mini goes up in less than a minute. The video will be available to watch on either Nintendo of UK or Nintendo of America's YouTube channels.

The 8-minute video is now live. Cadence of Hyrule is getting three new DLC packs. The first of which is a character pack, which adds Impa, Aria, Shadow Link, Shadow Zelda, and Frederick as playable characters. It launches later today.

Pack two will include 39 new songs.

Pack 3 has a new story featuring Skull Kid. Packs 2 and 3 will release sometime before October. A season pass will also be available, letting you buy all the new content in one package, or you can grab a new physical edition with everything on October 23rd.

Rogue Company has a new trailer. It's an online competitive shooter playable on the Switch. You can play with other platforms, too.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds launches on September 28th.

Shin Megami Tensei news. But it's not V, it's Shin Megami Tensei III. Nocturne is getting an HD Remaster on Switch this Spring 2021.

Now we get V. A trailer teases the story of the game, which releases in 2021 as well, worldwide.

That's it. More Partner Showcases will be shown later this year.

is this satire or are you actually mad that a PARTNERS showcase didn't show 1st party games?
plus both smt games belong on that list lol.
Just mad in general that his year has managed to fuck me every which way humanly possible.

Eh... at least we have SMT III and V now.

Can't wait to go on Twitter.

Edit: welp, 18k dislikes already.
It seems this Direct didn't satisfy anyone but SMT fans. Which is fine by me, because watching everyone but us being butthurt is kinda fun :creep:

I'm hoping that along with the usual graphical updates and (probable) VA, they add some of the QoL from newer games to Nocturne. Stuff like being able to choose what skills get inherited in fusions, an indicator for weak/resist/null/etc once you've discovered it, no random encounters, etc. Also, some way to reset Magatama levels so you can re-learn skills you chose to dump would be useful.

Also, let's hope this means at least Digital Devil Saga remasters are in the pipeline. I'm pretty sure at least those games run in the same engine as Nocturne, so remasters should be relatively easy to do.

The Nocturne remaster is what excites me most. I'm a bit disappointed there's no PC version mentioned yet, but seeing as how Atlus/Sega have made it apparent that they are interested in porting games to Steam, I am hoping they give Nocturne the same treatment. I can still play it on PS4, at least. I actually had been hankering to get my PS3 out of storage to try playing it, but.... eh.

Cadence of Hyrule getting a physical edition on my birthday? Heck yeah!

Oh, is it on your birthday? Nice, man! Glad to hear you've got a good present coming up!

Its funny that as the moment I'm writing this, this is number 1 on trending, but number 2 on trending for gaming, and what's number 1? Dreams minecraft manhunt 3 v 1 rematch lol.

Literally nothing of value in it for me.

Still nothing on Prime 4, which is concerning. Nintendo's history implies this is the same kind of behavior that they did when it came to Earthbound 64, before it eventually became Mother 3 and released in Japanese only, requiring a fan intervention and even professional assistance to get that game translated so it could be played elsewhere.

And STILL, nothing ado about No More Heroes 3. That troubles me, since it's literally the game I would have bought the console for.

Hmmm... very good points. Especially considering that Prime 4 has not only exchanged hands between development teams, but what they had achieved so far in development was also reportedly scrapped and started over from scratch.

What a letdown...
By the way: why do people celebrate over the upcoming physical release of a game that was already available for months and months?

SMT and those Cadence of Hyrule DLC looks mighty fine to me. Those who can't even acknowledge that they're good game, just not their cup of tea are listed as trolls to me.

1) It's one of the greatest JRPGs of all time.
2) It never saw any release outside PS2, let alone a portable one.
3) This specific version that's getting remastered is the most definite way to play SMT3, and till this point, the only way to run it was an unofficial fan-patch that contains some game-breaking bugs.
4) It's a favorite SMT game among many fans, so it's nice to see Atlus giving it some love.

Pretty much that, unless you're talking about something else of course - in that case, people just like to collect stuff =)
