if you're going to make an emulator, you'd want the most popular games or most well known to run first. that's probably why odyssey works with the switch emulator, all the way to completion. I don't know how many fps that is though. there's no way in hell my laptop could run the thing at a decent speed. I was getting about 15fps with dq 11 on the pc. the opening ran fine, but the game itself was slow to the point of unplayable.
if these games r running on systems with the appropriate RAM requirements and experiencing the same problems as the handheld systems, then its not a RAM issue, but most likely an Emulator programming issue.

the Vita has proven 2 exceed the PS2 in terms of graphics on games like KZM,BL2,AC3,etc. so its probably not a question of IF it is possible, but rather if the community can provide sufficient motivation ( $$ ) 2 the hacker/programmer(s) most suited 4 the job of developing a suitable Emulator. because i imagine after the success of Henkaku,TheFloW and co. r probably bizzy with more profitable ventures.

That's not how emulation works. Just because a system has games that "look" better doesn't mean it has the hardware to emulate another system. Again, the ARM SoC on the Vita is not a powerhouse, it's some bargain bin SoC from 2009, it does not have the processing power available to emulate the PS2.

This is very interesting...i wonder what will be in future regarding this:

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Yeh, people said to me exactly the same thing that you @azoreseuropa and @Shadow#1 said a years and a half ago when i asked the same thing about N64 emulation on vita, but now we have DeadalusX64 for vita.

I mean i guess there are none right now (idk) but perhaps in future it would be cool to see what will happen.

Tbh i don't know exactly what this elf runing on vita means to much, but i guess its something.

This demo is a single geometric object, which looks fairly low poly, with absolutely nothing else on the screen. And it's getting 14 fps. It would take some insane optimization to get it to a usable state. That isn't going to happen. For reference, a Snapdragon 820, which would eat every single aspect of a Vita for lunch, doesn't run this emulator at full speed on most titles.
Play! is also a complete and total pile of dogshit. I think maybe 15% or so of games run on it, and that's on powerful devices that can actually run the thing. Most games crash in the intro screen, if they can even be bothered to load at all. Wake me if someone decides to write this thing in assembly. Then we might see commercial games at 10 fps.

i honestly dont understand why are you laughing.this saying doesnt mean that im right or youre wrong. it just means what it means. thats it. Idk what youre laughing to.

This basically goes to your advantage also, cause if youre right, time will also tell that im wrong so....

Seriously, idk why are you laughing. I have my convictions and let me be. Talk something to back up your arguments and to make a conversation, "ROFL" is not a conversation, and not an interesting one also. It just ends up being childish.

some insightful commentary Tom,thanks. so what r the processor specs on the PSP and PS3, and your perspectives on y other Emulators work?

Anything SNES and older is easy emulation at this point, so don't need to say anything about those running since they already do (though SNES emulation can be hit or miss, depending on the game and if it uses enhancement chips). N64 is getting there, thanks to finally having GPU acceleration, but I wouldn't expect 100% compatibility (mostly cuz N64 emulation in general sucks). PS1/PSP isn't emulated on the Vita (or, at least, the official Sony stuff/Adrenaline isn't emulated), those run on actual PSP hardware that's still included in the Vita (except for things like sound, that is kinda sorta emulated but kinda not). There is a PS1 emulator port (PCSX-R), but it's simply not as good as official for most games so no one uses it. It's main benefit is that you can play some games at a higher resolution than the native PSP solution, but otherwise it's kinda eh at this point. GBA emulation is much like SNES, most games work but some are hit or miss depending on the game (though I haven't tried GBA emulation in a bit, it could be better these days as mGBA matured)

Things that won't run well/at all on the Vita includes basically Dreamcast and higher, for the most part. Dreamcast you might find a playable game or two, if that one port from Rinne gets optimized really well, but otherwise you shouldn't expect anything newer. DS might also be possible if Exodus ever finally open sources DraStic, since it's extremely well optimized for ARM SoCs (particularly low end ones, since originally it was developed for the Open Pandora), but again it'd be more hit and miss and less 100% compatibility.

As to specs, the PSP uses some MIPS CPU, and PS3 uses a PPC-based CPU referred to as Cell. Not sure what they have to do with Vita emulating the PS2, though, since neither are in any kind of bullpark in terms of performance of the Vita's specs.

"y other Emulators work"(as opposed 2 Vita Emulation of PS2). that's y i asked about them. never tried it but it says here PS3 can Emulate PS2.

Can't happen...

If the Vita can emulate PS2 games at full speed than the Switch can sure as hell emulate the Wii U at full speed.

PS2 emulation is a bit different with the PS3. For early phat's, they essentially had PS2 hardware that took care of all the work so it wasn't technically emulation. Other phats only had part of the PS2 hardware removed, which made emulation on those easier, but at a cost to compatibility (I think it was estimated that only 80% of PS2 games were compatible with those).

For newer consoles, ie Slim's/super slims, Sony themselves created the emulator for PS2 games, and that is the only reason the PS3 was able to emulate PS2 games at all. Sony has access to all the documentation and information on how the PS2s hardware works, as well as all the documentation and information on how best to use the PS3s hardware. You would've never seen any kind of playable PS2 emulator on the PS3 if it weren't for Sony, no third party team could pull off what they pulled off.

That said, even a Sony created PS2 emulator would not run on the Vita, it simply does not have the hardware for it. The PS3's CPU is vastly superior to the Vita's, and it barely managed to pull it off (to the point where a good huge chunk of PS2 games simply aren't playable on Slim PS3s). If they could, they wouldn't have made studios port those few PS2 games over to the Vita's architecture, they would've just emulated them (and many more) instead. But they didn't, cuz it's 100% not possible, never going to happen.

If a PS2 emulator would appear on the Vita, it would be a POC and will never progress past that.
The Vita is simply to weak to play PS2 games on a playable speed.
