This dumb Error Code 2002-4153 is driving me insane. It can happen at any given moment in some games.

I have read it could be a memory card, nsp etc

In my case I dont even use a memory card or install my games to them. I run XCI's only off of an SSD.

Only one game does this for me and that is Luigi's Mansion 3.

I use the latest sx os and the latest fw 10.0.4. Still get this error.

This happened alot to me with MUA3 Nsp games but once I moved over to exclusive XCI I never got this error again until now.

Is there a reason this is happening? Is there a way to check and verify the xci to make sure everything was dumped properly?

The switch just randomly destroys data of anything that is exFat formatted.
Nothing one can do about it until nintendo decides to fix their exFat driver. You can only use FAT32 to prevent it.

I don't think it's random. I had some corruption of data in the past on exfat. Every corruption could be led back to the use of homebrew and specifically homebrew writing to the SD when the program (involuntary) got shut down. When I stopped using homebrew on the exfat SD the corruptions also stopped.

Its random. There is no discussing it. It also happens on ofw with people who dont even know what cfw and homebrew is.
It corrupted half of my 500gb sd within half a year of just playing games, 0 homebrew.
In fact there have been multiple devs explaining how broken Nintendos exFat Driver is.
It sometimes writes stuff even when it should only be reading and when writing stuff it hangs/crashes whatever, which causes coruption.

Fat32 or exFat?

Does it matter if I am playing games strictly from my external SSD?

Back when I used to install nsps to my memory card I would get this issue occasionally but now Im getting them with XCI files played straight from the hard drive

What do you think your drive runs on? Magic?
You have made it clear in the first post that its installed on an external drive - we have made it clear that exFat is your issue. (Unless proven otherwise)

If you cant just accept that then google it, this isnt something switch specific thats hard to find, filesystems and corresponding driver communication dont rely on the connection type. That is basic computer knowledge. We wont write an essay about why and how here, especially not if youre not even willing to answer which filesystem youre using.

there is problem with ur external ssd or nintendo switch
maybe need clean install or reformat
From my experience i never get any corruption with my exfat 1TB external hdd xci backup games
and I always straight unplug from my pc without any safely remove and ejecting after copy some games

But for internal micro sd its a must for use fat32
I got 3 times corruptions before use fat32

The Switch wasn't made to play games via USB either. So it's even more of a failure point.
If you use ExFat, stop using it. Or continue living with the crashes.

Just Checked it is FAT32

Ran it through H2Testw (took almost 2 days) thoroughly and everything checked out fine.

Tried the game on another external HDD and still same error.

So it has to be something else. Maybe it is SX OS? I will try to load in atmosphere and also try to convert to an nsp install to see if that makes a difference.

While your SDcard is FAT32, I'm assuming your external drive is ExFat?

I'm guessing it's the ExFat external drive that is getting corrupted. Especially given that the switch isn't natively designed to work with an external drive. But I'm not too sure. Maybe somebody with more knowledge/experience using external drives can chime in.

We got to the bottom of the corruption in 2018. Exfat, it doesn't matter what you're doing especially when using Homebrew or even playing a game it can corrupt your sd card. Fat32 has none of that, and while it has a 4 gb limit you just learn to install from your usb type c cable which is not that difficult to learn. Plenty of programs out there for that purpose.
