I just wanted to add something useful to this thread.

Since there's forms of BBQ in other languages in the thread title I wanted to point out that in German "Grillen" not only means having a BBQ, but can also be translated as crickets.

Lol. I was a a party and this dude was barbecuing in the garage!
My friend Stewart once did that and managed to blow off two of his fingers and set the garage on fire. Stupid fuck threw a shitload of some unknown flammable liquid on the barbecue and then there was a mighty kaboom.
