1. No not at all, fbi does that automatically by checking the title id.

2. I didn't had any problems but found a solution for BGM, don't know if it still works:

For the looping issues, open the BGM file in loopingaudioconverter and open the dropdown menu under "for non-looping files" and select the force loop option and it should loop indefinitely on your home menu. (just make sure you select "convert to BCSTM" or else it'll convert the file into whatever the default selection is)

3. It should be good after rebooting.

1.) Whenever I install a cia should I be worried about installing it to the wrong place on accident? I’ve heard of people doing that before. What could I do to prevent that?
There isn't a wrong location per se when placing *.cia files on the SD card. FBI takes care of installing games, dlcs, and updates to the Nintendo 3DS folder or TWLNAND partition if it's a DSiWare game. This is the generally suggested folder when adding *.cia files to the card.
  • sdmc:/cias/example.cia
  • sdmc:/cias/homebrew.cia
  • sdmc:/cias/game.cia
What's not so obvious, intuitive, or well known where accidents do occur is this:
  • :!: Reinstalling a game CIA (TitleID: 00040000XXXXXXXX) that has already been installed will permanently overwrite and delete its savedata (00000001.sav).
Whenever installing new games, use the Install and delete CIA option. Don't keep the *.cia files on the card once they're installed to the Nintendo 3DS folder.

For extra safety, always make backups of all your saves + extdata with Checkpoint, JKSM, and/or GBAVCSM.
2.) all of my anemone themes work great, but the music doesn’t loop on any of them. What could be the reason behind that?
The no looping BGM was due to a bug in older versions of Anemone3DS.
  1. To reset the theme shuffle, delete the HOME Menu theme extdata subfolder on the SD card.
    • sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/extdata/00000000/000002cx
    • nintendo-3ds_id0_id1-png.200067
    • [ JPN = 000002cc | USA = 000002cd | EUR = 000002ce ]
  2. Update to the latest Anemone3DS v2.1.0.
  3. HOME MenuHOME Menu SettingsChange ThemeShuffle Favorites. Select all five (5) basic color themes. Press (Y) OK.
    • This will create a fresh HOME Menu theme extdata, replacing the 000002cx deleted from step 1.
  4. Anemone3DS should now be able to shuffle themes with looping audio.
3.) a minor problem but, whenever I’m done installing a cia, I can’t “unwrap” it unless I go into another application and back out. What could be the cause?
I've seen this "no unwrapping HOME Menu gift icons" when I hacked my n3DSXL with custom firmware back in late 2017. This sounds like you followed a old YouTube guide, and your 3DS is running on an outdated setup.

Are you using Twilight Menu++ with the Game Booter?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

  1. Insert your SD card into your PC
  2. Extract TWiLightMenu.7z
  3. Copy the /_nds/ folder to the root of your SD card
  4. Copy the /roms/ folder to the root of your SD card
Place your .nds ROMs inside the /roms/nds/ folder
  5. Go to the /DSi&3DS - SD card users/ folder
  6. Copy the /_nds/ folder and BOOT.NDS file to the root of your SD card
  7. Go to the /3DS - CFW users/ folder
  8. Copy TWiLightMenu.cia and TWiLight Menu - Game Booter.cia to the /cia/ folder on your SD card
  9. Copy TWiLightMenu-Updater.cia to the /cia/folder on your SD card
  10. Insert your SD card into your 3DS and power it on
  11. Launch FBI on your 3DS
  12. Go to SD -> cia
  13. Select current directory -> [Install and delete all CIAs]
  14. Press [Home] and go back to the Home Menu when the installation is complete
  15. Unwrap and Launch TWiLight Menu Updater
  16. Select the TWL Menu++ [Release] and wait for the files to install
  17. Select the nds-bootstrap [Release] and wait for the files to install

What exactly do you plan on adding to such thing if you made one?
Probably just the basic required CIAs and stuff, because I'm considering modding some other systems and it'd be easier to download all of the other CIA emulators/programs/etc. by just downloading them from the unistore file.

By game booter do you mean nds bootstrap?
Can i just reinstall everything without it screwing up my 3ds?
Sort of. You're probably using Windows or macOS (Hackintosh?) so download this file:
https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/TWiLightMenu/releases/download/v15.3.0/TWiLightMenu.7z
And extract the cfw users 3ds to the sd card. You need to place the CIAs in the cias folder. There should be 2. Twilight Menu ++ and Twilight Menu ++ - Game Booter. That's the game booter. It isn't NDS-Bootstrap as it ia in TW++ it self (_nds folder) in my initial setup i forgot to install the game booter. It started fine and i could play. After 2 months i realized i missed some things by reading the guide again as firm. 11.11 came out. It's now exactly a year ago since i hacked my 3ds and 3 weeks later i bought a Wii U. But that isn't about the 3ds. So you need to install both files. If you ever think about up/downgrading (everyone says don't do that) but if you ever want it, the DS mode will be corrupt and you'll need to install some CIAs. Good luck searching!

Again this is all in my previous post. Just follow that.

By following 3ds.hacks.guide you get the possibility to install your games (CIA files) to the console micro-SD. They will work exactly as if you bought them on eShop (I've dumped and installed all my carts because carrying these expensive things in addition to the expensive console is not a good idea).

As for "What flashcart for ntrboot?"... hmmhm normally it would be the R4i Gold 3DS Plus with internal switch for ntrboot. But it is currently sold out wherever I looked. A very old R4 cannot be updated/flashed for ntrboot. Consider using the Seedminer method.

For playing your old DS games there is TWiLight Menu++. Makes any R4 almost obsolete (and is better for the battery).

Good luck and have fun!

@KleinesSinchen
Thanks for that info!

2 more questions, sorry.

1 - When I follow the '3DShack guide' and go the ntrboot way, since I only want to do this to play some eShop games, I NEED a 3DS flashcard to ‘softmod’ my 3DS, right?
Once that’s done, do I need it anymore?
I’ll try to get the ‘R4i Gold 3DS Plus with internal switch for ntrboot’ if true still.

I don’t see any 3DS games I want to play that I don’t already have physical of, and I plan to keep my DS-Lite as is, to play NES/SNES/GB/CGB/DS games on it.

2 - Also, will I notice any difference when using my 2DS to play my other eShop/physical games after this is done?

Just wondering, thanks again!

1. Its not a 3DS flashcart. It is for DS games and for ntrboot. And ntrboot is only done once. After that the cart can be switched to "D" (DS game mode).
I would prefer playing (S)NES games on the 2|3DS. Emulators are far better and the resolution of the DS is too low.

2. Custom firmware does nothing to legit game carts and legit eShop purchases. Works like before.

Brilliant topic looking for hours for some answers.
1) Is CCI same as 3DS file format?
2) Can 3DS play CIA, CCI or 3DS files?
  1. CCI is pretty much the same as the 3DS file format. Without converting to a CIA, you can only play these formats on the 3DS with a 3DS flashcart like Gateway.
  2. The 3DS (with Luma3DS and B9S installed) can play games installed from CIA files. You will need to convert other file types to CIA to be able to install them.

And you gotta help me.
We don't gotta do anything.

How can I defeat the strong dragon Pokemon in the trial in Pokemon ultra moon?
Kommo-o is weak to Flying, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy moves. It has a 4x weakness to Fairy moves, so those are recommended against Kommo-o. Hakamo-o, a possible SOS partner, has the same weaknesses.

Scizor, a possible SOS partner, is weak to Fire type moves.

I've uninstalled CFW on my device before and this is the second time installing it, but I can't get GodMode9 to boot. Pressing the start button while booting, all it gives me is a black screen. Strange because it worked the first time I installed CFW, and I followed every instruction from 3ds.hacks.guide from start to finish. Any tips?

Either chainload gm9 or close the 3ds and open it. physically. its a known issue atm with the newest gm9.
