Can someone tell me how to get rid of that black screen and that error? I am getting quite confused, because I don't really know if I should do a ctrtransfer or use that boot.firm file. I am a total newb and I am totally clueless
The problems source seems to be an uncommon knowledge. I've done both of the things that you suggest and none of them have worked for me. Moreover, I've tried about everything possible from changing sd card, formatting sd card and reinstalling b9s. It seems that the reason in my case points towards it being faulty hardware. But that might not be the case for you. Try everything possible and when you're out of ideas then maybe you can reach the conclusion of it being a hardware failure. Good luck! Can someone tell me how to get rid of that black screen and that error? I am getting quite confused, because I don't really know if I should do a ctrtransfer or use that boot.firm file. first try the boot.firm file, since its only replace and try. And its 1000x safer than doing a ctrtransfer. Can someone tell me how to get rid of that black screen and that error? so the error display doesnt show anymore but now it says, "failed to apply 1 firm patches", is this cuz its outdated for me since this post is from almost a year ago? i rlly dont know what to do nowStill can't find the cause. Though, update: Now the screen stays black regardless of whether the SD card is in the slot. Don't know what changed between last night and now, only that I tried a different boot.firm
EDIT: Finally found someone who could do the build. to the new boot.firm that fixes the above issue. I don't know how long it will remain an active link, but I have a copy. If anyone needs it and the link is dead, please let me know. This works for Luma3DS 9.0 and to fix the above error in the OP.
The only issue I had afterwards was that I needed to shut off Super-Stable 3D and restrict 3D in Parental Controls to make the images look normal again.
Your Luma3DS is outdated. Are you on A9LH or B9S? Hold Select on boot and tell us what the version says.so the error display doesnt show anymore but now it says, "failed to apply 1 firm patches", is this cuz its outdated for me since this post is from almost a year ago? i rlly dont know what to do now

After trying about everything, the error, in my case, turned out to be a loose chip on the motherboard. I had to disassemble the whole 3ds to reinsert it. I broke my home button in the process... Might be worth a try, but be really careful! You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I am having this issue myself. There a fix posted earlier that had a luma 9.0 boot.firm that had the 301 line altered. Something about the super-stable 3d. when i boot with that boot.firm i get a different error (somebody else posted about this too)
is it possible to get a luma 9.1 boot.firm that has that same alteration? or would that make a difference?
sorry if this is preposterous i really dont know anything. any assistance is appreciated.

you've done God's work. I had the same exact error and that boot.firm fixed the issue.
Any disadvantage of using luma 9 vs 10 though? I originally used 10 but tbh idc about anything as long as its not lower than 8 (because 8+ supports the dai gyakuten translations).
I realized, by dual wielding Sysnand 11.8 and Emunand 11.2, I have to use my original Luma firm on Sys and the recompiled one on Emu. Recompiled won't work on my sys and as you know, my original Luma 10 firm won't work on Emu. Slightly annoying, but I've lived with it so far.I’ll be honest; I don’t know if there is an advantage. All of my 3DS XL’s and 2DS’s have been updated since I originally posted this in 2018.
Explain to me one thing. What the hell is your avatar? I must know.Ok, I got it to work actually. Awesome.
Hi. So I was having the same problem as the OP with my 2ds after spilling some A&W on it. I tried the new boot.firm (The one that was supposed to fix the error) and got to the Luma3ds configuration. I configured it as usual, but afterwards, it said "Error: failed to load (1) patch(es). Press any button to shutdown." How can I fix this?
