Hello.:)

I recently finished installing a hardmod on my DSi XL and everything is wired correctly according to the diagram on this thread, however when I plug the system into the computer using the SD adapter cable and SD reader, it doesn't seem to mount on any drive. Turning on the DSi with the adapter plugged in gives me a completely blank screen with no error messages akin to the 3DS hardmods and the system turns on and functions normally without the adapter plugged in. I'm running Hiya CFW and I have Unlaunch installed on my NAND if that's a factor. This is also my first time doing a NAND mod on anything so I'm rather lost. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Your Issues sounds like the same I have actual:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/please-reconsider-it-good-to-install-unlaunch.567933/

As Advise I got from @susi91 to keep the Cables as short as possible.
I also think it depends on the SD Adapter too....
Unfortunately I did not managed it until today,I have to try it again this Summer........hopefully...

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

I did some testing and I found out that the SD adapter was the culprit and that it wasn't being read by the SD reader (I'm using this one) so I fixed that up. The system is now mounting properly on my PC and booting to a proper error screen but the code is 0000FEFE instead of 0000FE00. I did the reading with Win32DiskManager and dumped 3 instances of the NAND that are all the same and all the correct filesize. So assuming the error message isn't an issue everything worked out. Again it was the adapter that was the problem so if you have the same issue you should make sure it's put together properly. Thanks for the input!

I hadn't expected the console to be able to "talk" to the NAND while connected to SD reader. Seems it still somewhat can but gets wrong results. See error table:

Good work!

Does the fact that the system can still communicate with the NAND mean that any dump, despite precision, is inaccurate? I'm still not so sure.

Very much doubt it.
  1. Turn on
  2. Read First sector
  3. Verify boot sector
    • If it fails → Throw error. Do nothing.
    • If success → Continue boot.
You said you have dumped it three times identically. The bootloader will not write to NAND. Why should it?

If you are still unsure, add Nocash footer to the dump and run your dump in no$gba to verify it's a good dump.
You could also boot from unlaunch to fwtool and compare software dump with hardware dump. Make sure you don't boot into SysNAND Launcher or Settings or Camera or… This will certainly write something.

System settings on HiyaCFW aren't working how can I fix this? I get black screen and "An error has occurred. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for help troubleshooting" I think maybe I've deleted some file that I wasn't supposed to delete.

Hi, I heard about dsi homebrew from a video by MVG. Thought I'd give it go since I had a dsi just collecting dust. So I got a 32gb SDHC card and started following the instructions in the video. The instructions were for the memory pit method. I ran into a problem where whenever I went to the sdcard album to boot up hbmenu both screens would show green. I tried everything I could think of. I also made sure BOOT.NDS was in the root directory of the SD card. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thank you.

Try following the guide on dsi.cfw.guide and see if that works, its more up to date.

Not much hope here and not worth a new thread:

I just got a DSi in very bad condition. Turned out that there is some water damage (indicator red as well as corrosion on: power board connector, on firmware/WiFi board and metal shielding above the CPU). Blown fuse F1 on power board.

Strange enough it turned on seemingly normally after installing a good power board. Screens working, cameras working, WiFi indicator on all good… except for: I can't start any software. System Settings, full Camera app, Sound and even cartridges. No matter what I tried starting, it went straight to very helpful "An error has occurred…" message.
Peripherals are not responsible for the error. I swapped the water damaged motherboard with the one from a known good unit → same error.

I've no idea where to search. The error message does not say anything and it is so strange that it boots to Launcher with no issues at all.

As already said: Not much hope here… anybody got an idea what could cause this? Would be really great.

There's probably some corruption in the NAND somewhere.

That is a possibility. In some video a guy said it was as easy as replacing the WiFi board. Didn't work. Cleaning the connector didn't help either (no visible corrosion there). I gave up on this one and will use it for parts (both screens are good, cameras are good, power board can be repaired).

Sorry, I didn't see this thread when I made my own post, so I'll copy-paste it here:

Hiya, apologies if this is a silly question, but I'm a noob at all of this, and google isn't helping anymore.

In order for me to save Golden Sun 2 on GBArunner2 on DSi (via SD card), here's what Wikitemp states:
"Use commit unspecified (2019/06/03) (sd save branch) arm9 version instead. Sram patching for saving is required in that build. Game runs faster with wram i-cache enabled."
I have downloaded "Commit unspecified (2019/06/03) (sd_save branch)", and that's as far as I managed to make it by myself. I have no clue how to replace the version of GBArunner2 I already have with the downloaded version, or how to perform a Sram patching. I also have no idea what a wram i-patch is or how to enable it.

Could somebody patiently walk me through the steps I need to perform to save Golden Sun 2, or point me in the direction of some tutorials? Keep in mind that I'm completely new to all of this, and I don't even understand the most basic jargon.

Thanks a lot in advance!
