Crysis Remastered won't be delayed for the Nintendo Switch, launches later this month

crysis.jpg

Earlier this month, Crytek announced that they would be delaying the remastered version of Crysis, following backlash over the graphical quality of the game. However, it looks like the Nintendo Switch version of the game won't be affected. It has been announced that Crysis Remastered for the Nintendo Switch will still be launching on July 23rd, its initial planned release date. Meanwhile, the PC and other console versions of the game still require extra development time, and lack a solid release date.

The switch is like a PS3 "PRO" the games look better in 1080p with better looking graphics but not so good on the PS4 or Xbox One side

Thats why its easier to port a PS3 game to switch versus porting a next generation game resulting in the graphics downgrading looking like PS3/360 like graphics

The switch version is "allowed" to look close to the original. No one is gonna complain because no one expects the switch version to look amazing.

Frankly, I thought the whole point was to change the engine and make it run better on 4core CPU's. Only had it on PS3 though, so idk the technical bits.

It's not a needed remaster, at all, but it'll be fun to revisit the game eventually.

PS: did one of the PS3 Crysis games support stereoscopic 3d? I seem to remember playing one of them while wearing 3d glasses, but not sure. Maybe 2? Couldn't easily find info, maybe someone else remembers.

Crisis...is coming to first...even if it's a remake...to the switch...wtf timeline are we in given how delays normally go on with most other games...cough cough doom.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

on a side note to all those bitching about it likely being ark 2 electric boogaloo. the trailer that came out for the switch version actually looked alright so fortunately these devs are actually competent.

No offense, but Switch owners should be grateful it's coming to that platform (even if it's a rebadged PS3 version) especially when we all know how much of a powerhouse and resource intensive game Crysis 1 was when it initially released exclusive for the PC.

---EDIT---
I'm really hoping that the controller button scheme is akin to the Crysis 2/3's layout which felt much more ergonomic.

To be fair there are exclusives too (look at AC).
Besides there is an interesting aspect to these ports & remasters: they're on the go!
I agree that there are exclusives, but once you play them all, nothing else to play expect those stupid 2d games or replaying games you played before -on the go- which may be good for some but I never play a game twice expect if it was really good.

This guy gets it. The biggest problem with the original crysis was the cpu support. Even a modern pc still has problems with frame timing on the original game, it's not multithreaded.
The big improvement to crysis remastered isn't the graphics it's the performance. It will support multithreads and should scale much better into modern cpus and consoles. This is how they can run crysis remastered on switch, the original would have never run, not even close.

( Crysis 2 had a 3d side by side mode on consoles.)

Kelios didn't just correctly predict the date for Direct Mini, he also correctly predicted the date for the AC Direct, so I trust him pretty much. The only thing confusing me is that he said the Direct would be on July 20 which is a monday and as far as I know, there was never a Direct on a monday...
