Hi,

I have a Nintendo Switch that has never been modded before.

I was performing a game update when the console said it encountered an error and shutdown. It then would not boot up again.

After looking around I discovered I could place the console in RCM mode, which confirmed I had a corrupt boot issue to me.

When I tried to take a dump of the eMMC, i was always getting 'failed to init eMMC' errors. So i purchased a replacement eMMC and the console can read and access this. However I have no backup of the original one, is it now impossible to get this console back to stock firmware?

If it's never been modded you could send it to Nintendo for repair - you will likely receive a patched unit in return, however.

I lost all my animal crossing save due to the same reason as OP, eMMC corrupted (send you deepest condolences),

that’s when I found out it was also in RCM, so I researched a little bit and today I’m solely using it for android (first time android user).

gonna buy a new switch and start over in animal crossing, sucks but whatever. Good luck OP.

If you booted atmosphere in the past is automatically creates prodinfo backup on the microsd and you can use it to try to recreate the nand and restore to another emmc module.

Thanks for the suggestion, I never used these tools in the past to secure my switch from being banned. Now when the eMMC can’t be initiated, I feel no regret for using the device for android

Every crappy Switch CFW guide (no matter how misled) has a big section about the importance of backups. If you have modded and not bothered to backup then things will get tricky...

I know this is an old post, but seriously, they already said they didn’t mod/hack their Switch at all. It was 100% stock. So how were they supposed make a backup. And if this warning was for other people, it would not belong in this thread. Smh.
