Is there any reason to use a sx pro at all anymore, I have a launch on latest firmware. I see that I can mod without buying anything except maybe a jig and USB c cable. But if I don’t want to bother with that I’d the sx pro a more convenient route? I see that it’s tied to a specific console and probably in the future I’ll move to a cfw but he mean time is sx pro a good option for a launch switch on latest firmware.
To mod your switch you will very likely run a CFW. Atmosphere is the free way. SX OS offers some features which are currently only supported by them like USB loading, XCI mounting and EmuNAND. If you don't need these things, you should probably use Atmosphere.

Emunand for me and the fact that it's got the easiest way to upgrage firwmare (within EMUNAND)

Hows this dongle going? I have two switches and one switch is the one i installed the sx os first when it came out but got banned very early on since there was no emunand etc back then.
Can i buy another os and install it on my second switch without the fear of getting banned?

Nope , you can always get ban when you connect to the official Nintendo servers

It has to be a model priot 2018 you have to check with the serial number of the console

Some noob questions as I'm new to this:

1) I'm doing a NAND dump and I have my SD card formatted in FAT32.
I want to use Exfat because I think it will make my life easier because of fat32 limitations.
Can I just copy all the files I have on the SD card to my computer, format the SD card and copy again the files to the SD card ?

2) I have SX core installed, I booted with the boot.dat and until now I was not asked about any license. Do I need to do something to activate the SX OS ? The only thing I have done until now was to put the NAND to be dumped (still doing it).

3) To play online, I need to fully shutdown the console and boot in original firmware ?

4) Should I do a NAND dump every time there is a system update by Nintendo ?

5) For games, which format should I use ? NSP or XCI ?

  1. Yes but be aware that using exFAT will always have a chance at corrupting your SD card
  2. The license is built into SX Core because it should only ever be used on only one console
  3. You can play online in CFW or OFW but you risk a ban regardless because traces of CFW persist after a shutdown
  4. Not necessarily
  5. Whatever you prefer as both carry their own advantages and disadvantages

What does the option "Cleanup" on the SX core menu ?
It's something to be used if we want to take out the chip or should I use it before I go to the original firmware ?

Sorry, i'm also a noob in the Switch modding scene, but why is there a chance of corrupting the SD Card if it is in exFAT rather than in FAT32?
I bought a Mariko with SX Core already installed and the SD card provided was already formated in exFAT.
Makes me wonder if I could lose everything due to the SD card format...

It's the exfat driver in the Switch. It's not SX fault or any homebrew developer. Nintendo botched the ExFat driver and until they fix it, most of us recommend you use Fat32.

Thanks for your prompt answer. What are the odds to get an exFAT SD card corrupted? Is it regularly happening? Do we have any idea of the reason/manipulation for the card to get corrupted?
My SD card is almost full and it would be so painful to lose everything, or to have everything to reinstall again after formatting the card to FAT32.

That's the problem. It can happen gradually. You most likely won't notice until BAM corrupted.
No! It's super easy to convert it to FAT32 actually.

You put it in to your computer (I just assume Windows)
Copy all content from the SD card to example a folder you call "Switch SD"
When the copy is done, you can format it with Guiformat from Ridgecorp.
Then you copy back everything.

If the files you got on your SD Card however are XCI files, you might need to split them in to smaller 4gb blocks.

95% of my games are NSPs and I only have 3 or 4 XCIs.
When NSPs were installed with Tinfoil, they were already splitted in <4Gb blocks, even if I have an exFAT SD card?
What about all files linked to SX OS and emuNand?
I am trying to evaluate the quickness and feasibility of your solution with my full 256Gb card...
