Nintendo Switch Online NES/SNES games for July revealed

More Super Nintendo games are headed to the Nintendo Switch Online service. This month, subscribers are getting a pretty major title that’s been noticeably lacking from the library until now: Donkey Kong Country. The 1994 Rareware-developed platformer will be available to play on your Nintendo Switch this July 15th, alongside two other titles: Natsume Championship Wrestling for the SNES, and The Immortal--an isometric action-adventure fantasy game--for the NES.

One day, Nintendo Switch is dead then online will be offline and it will be useless. It is require to run online, I believe? I never used it on my jailbreak Switch because I don't want to use the online. I am staying unban and I am not into online. Never was and never will anyway.
I think as long as you have the "snes classic" app downloaded, you can play it offline? At least it used to be like that, since I could download and use it on a modded offline switch.

Yeah but this is nicer to be honest with you. It can be modied with more games in it but online only ? That's why I am very confused about this one. I always keep back off from this but still intend to use it. I am very curious. Confusion.

This is how it works:

You only need to go online to subscribe to the Switch Online service and to download the apps for the first time. And of course for the constant updates when the new games that are added by Nintendo every once in a while.

The apps are available exclusively for Switch Online subscribers but once you have this service, you can have access to the apps full features when you are offline.

But yeah, the account is required and has a monthly/annual fee. If you unsubscribe, I assume you will lose the access to these apps. Unless there's a new way to go over this with a modded console (My Switch is not modded, so I can't say...).

Now, I know. Thank you. I will grab it and see how it is doing. Mine is modded so I know where to get it. Thanks for your explanation. Much appreciated!

It checks if you still have a Nintendo Online subscription every time you try to run it, so yeah

afaik, the app phones home every seven days to make sure you're still subscribing.
This. Once every 7 days for subscribers, but will obviously check for [previously] non-subscribers when the app is booted up.

DKC anyway, nice to finally have it... It's the Pepsi Max Big One of 2D platformers (you've got to be a UK'er for that one methinks!): that initial WOW factor (at the time) but a teeny bit mediocre once that wears off. Thankfully we should be seeing the far superior sequel sometime soon.

Of all the games they could have ported, The Immortal on NES? Everyone knows the Genesis version is where it's at!

(I mean, it's no Eternal Champions CD, but GODDAMN!)

As for DKC, I'd rather have DKC Returns, honestly. DKC can be played on the Switch through other arches, if you know what I mean... ;)

the 3ds dkc returns for me. I want to try those new levels. I've got a save I injected that starts at those new levels, but using the 3ds with a game that difficult is awkward imo.

My thinking is that, at this point, all of these games on 3DS are getting abandoned, why not port the game to the Switch? Especially if Nintendo is going to make a Nintendo Switch 2/Super Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch Plus/Nintendo Super Switch/whatever the next hybrid system Nintendo hopefully makes is gonna be called and possibly have BC. I would love to continue playing all of these great games on the go when things fully return to normal!

I miss the dark site where people would add roms manually to NES online.

maybe it's just the newer updates, but I read it no longer works if you don't have an account. if you don't have an account, you get a blank page where the games would be. I don't have an exploited switch, so I don't have any firsthand experience.

Wow, I have the online sub, but for this bull crap, I won't use it. Still on CFW. I was hoping they would improve the releases at this point, considering the insane amount of games both systems have. An idiotic wrestling game, DKC that, despite amazing, after a few minutes it becomes "meh". At least the NES game is a nice surprise.

Oh well...

I'm really looking forward to dkc. that and mega man are my favorite series. I've beaten breath of fire with the official snes online and I'm a bit into breath of fire 2 (overworld music has changed). most games are garbage but there are gems.
