I read pretty much each page of this thread and I guess I‘m ready to order now

Still I have 2 more questions:
1. Compared to a PS2 Modchip install on a slim console - do you think the soldering to the caps on a core is easier or harder?
2. I‘m from Germany - what’s my best option for ordering it right now? Ali+DHL or sth else?

1. Quite a bit harder, the caps are way smaller but its definitely doable if you have a steady hand
2. Ali with DHL if you want it fast, slow shipping if you dont mind waiting a little. (I used slow shipping and it took 12 days from china to italy with half of it, 6 days, being stuck in customs)

OK just got my 400GB sd card, and I'm still unsure about fat32 vs exfat.

As I understand it, exfat has more chance of curuption but fat32 has the 4gb file limit to deal with.

Having never copied any files or backups to a switch before, how painful is the file limit size to deal with?

My 4 year old will be using it so I can't really expect him to follow procedures regarding proper shut-downs etc and I think curruption would be likely.

Stick it in your switch and click format and be good to go.

I just installed my sx core and its working. Its my first ever soldering work. Didnt even practice xD. The solder points were tiny as hell. I didnt think it was going to be that hard. I used tons of flux and just solder at 350ºC. gg

My SX lite just arrived, from an Ali seller in just over a week.
Meanwhile the one I preordered from M3DSC back in December hasn't even shipped yet. . Wish me luck with the install. See you on the other side
I ordered one from M3DSC months ago and began to think I would never receive it but Monday they shipped it out so hopefully they will send yours too. I had read somewhere that they would begin shipping this week and I got up early so I could contact them via online chat. They gave me the tracking details there and then. Looking at the tracking it is now at its first pickup point - Wuhan ! - here's hoping it won't have to go into 14 days quarantine before I get it. I also ordered one from Ali last week and seven days later it arrived.

Well my Core arrived and there is no way on Earth I'm attempting the install. I've stripped down the Nintendo Switch in to it's constituent pieces and cleaned all the paste off and will be pasting with MX4. Here's a before shot of my Switch before someone does surgery on it! Please let me know if you see any defects in my tear down. I was very careful.

I congratulate you for knowing your limits regarding this kind of job. I'm in the same boat, and I wouldn't attempt it either. One thing I've never seen is a real indicator of how small this modchip is for someone who has never seen one. Could you post another pic similar to this one, but with a dime or a nickel right next to it?

Success! Didn't give me any problems soldering and I got the green light and grumpy face on first boot.
The problem came after I'd added the boot.dat to the sd card. It was stuck on the SX OS logo indefinitely.
I tried a bunch of stuff (reformatting the SD, redownloading etc. ) but it still wouldn't boot past the SX splash screen.
Thinking I'd try updating the firmware via USB, I plugged it into my PC. As soon as I did, it autobooted into OFW. I shut it down, and it immediately booted into SX OS and its been fine ever since. Crazy

Dumping NAND now :D
