Now that these seems to be a new exploit, i'm toying with the idea to buy one for hacking purposes.
If i buy one from stores, will firmware will it be on? anyway to know?

Since you are in America. You can go to pawn stores or GameStop and ask them to test PS4 to check the firmware. That's only way. Or eBay (if you know what you are doing). Either. Thats all. A brand new 6.72 from Amazon or something might be found but you gotta expect that it will be higher price due that it is exploitable.

Going have to ask the seller directly about the firmware, retailers are probably out of stock due to the pandemic.
Thanks, Walmart has new in stock, and Bestbuy have open box like new condition, but will also check cragislist

Thanks, agree, i met tons of them in the last 24hr...
What are the chances to get one on 6.72 from BestBuy/Walmart?
Buy it by bundle or console checking release date, check what day that fw version came out and by year /date get the console.

I guess if you find a fat PS4 new you'll probably know it's low firmware because they haven't made phat PS4s for awhile right? But they're probably expensive anyway.

If he gets a phat one he can get up to 8tb internal hdd, that's what i am using.
i have a fat below 5.05 but is it it worth it to upgrade to a pro now ?
also why not just use an external drive? can;t you use external drive native now without apps 2 USB on 5.05?
if you can thought i guess it might not work on the newer FW exploit for awhile?

but is it a hassle to get it installed and formatted?
Is not a big deal, get a:
Nyko Data Bank for PlayStation®4
and get a:

Seagate BarraCuda Pro Performance Internal Hard Drive SATA HDD 8TB 6GB/s 256MB Cache 3.5-Inch (ST8000DM0004)
you wont worry about space on your ps4.

I'm having a hard time on Ebay, half of them are sellers almost no feedback (can't trust them) and I've emailed like 10 people asking what firmware it's on, and like 4 have replied back saying it's on 7.51 or whatever. You would think somebody would have one just laying around for a long time then selling it but no they seem to always be online.
