I updated Atmosphere and then the console to the last version, then left the Switch charge at night as usual, when I pick it up this morning the battery starts to drain insanely fast from 100% to 2%!

Now it keeps popping up the message that the battery is low and not only that, but the counter freaks out from 1% to 9%

Did I do something wrong? Is the Switch bugged or I have to get a new battery?

Did you try booting into Hekate? It's supposed to calibrate the battery. You can also look at the battery info in Hekate. If that doesn't work you can try to calibrate it the "normal" way.

[Look at my post below for a link to Nintendo's official steps. I found this quote from a different site a long time ago]

"you’ll need to drain the battery to 0% [until it shuts off], charge it, use the console normally until the battery is drained to 0 again. Do this cycle six times to complete the calibration process. Over time, the battery indicator will be able to function normally again."

Good luck! Tho i've never seen one jump up and down like in your video. Hopefully Hekate can help.

Ok? I've never had this issue either. It's not super common but over my years of lurking on the Reddit subforums and here, I've seen plenty of people get it.

Just be glad you haven't gotten the bug and that there is a way to possibly fix it if you ever do.

Leaving the Switch in RCM, or using an OS that isn't Horizon, can result in a battery desync issue.

All you have to do is launch Hekate, and the battery desync issue will be fixed.

all i had to do was to get switch to 0 percent on horizon os and load hekate and let it drain the voltage to 3200 mV (or better down to 2800mV till Hekate shuts down switch byself) you should do it atleast twice it helped me (it can take time but it should work)

Okay, I did the cycle thingy and it worked!
I never saw this before and it made me very anxious to see that damn counter going nuts and having an existencial crisis.

The battery desync wasn't the only faulty thing, turns out my battery is slowly reaching its limits. Still, it now displays the correct numbers and whatnot!

Thanks everyone!

I do have a similar "problem" since I hacked my console a couple of weeks ago. The battery used to last a few more hours, so I assume that constantly reading/writing the SD card (I have emuNAND) and all the extra homebrew services working on the background are draining it faster. And it sounds logical when you think about it.
