could you have mistake grab nsp files from "sd/switch/nxdumptool/nsp/batchprocessing" this is used for the batch mode to remember what you already dumped. it creates 1KB files with same filenames as your dumps

"sd/switch/nxdumptool/nsp" files here are real ones

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

No, I don't think this is it, as my input nsp files are all full sized. Only the output nsz files in the "NSCB_output" folder ends up 1KB for some nsz files after processing, even though it says processing was successful.

if you're using the python version make sure u run install dependants.bat as admin. otherwise, try the x64 bit version?

managed to capture this error:
*******************************
COMPRESS A NSP\XCI
*******************************
Exception: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'F:\\Gamez\\Switch Images\\Bayonetta [010076F0049A2000][v0].nsp'

I'm not sure what could cause this, as I have other nsps in the same location that convert fine. Also, its not just this file that has the issue, so its not just a one off anomaly.

Hmmm. Strange..

I have some more info to add. Using the File Info (interface.bat) file that comes with the Windows build, I got this readout from the cmd backend when accessing the file:

Loaded: F:/Switch Images/Bayonetta [010076F0049A2000][v0].nsp
* Seeking icon
Exception: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'F:/Switch Images/Bayonetta [010076F0049A2000][v0].nsp'
* Retrieving Game Information
Exception: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'F:/Switch Images/Bayonetta [010076F0049A2000][v0].nsp'
* Generating Titles File Data
* Reading Data from Nacp
* Reading Data from Npdm
Exception: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'F:/Switch Images/Bayonetta [010076F0049A2000][v0].nsp'
* Reading Data from Cnmt
* Verifying files
> c32c4fc1fc1cf0ecfcd2ca08351bc8f6.nca -> is PROPER
> af7bd4b2647fa3f814448be700b936ea.nca -> is PROPER
> 2f80b025a835ab3f96ac3fc286add0af.nca -> is PROPER
> 642b3bc5fef078d8d1b25d4eb4daab86.cnmt.nca -> is PROPER
* Generating BaseID FileTree from DB
* Seeking cheats from DB
DONE

The file itself checks out with the File Info and says all tests were correct/proper.

I'm wondering if my keys file is bad/incomplete? I got it myself from my own switch. I get similar errors as above for all the NSPs that don't convert.

Thanks again for all your insight.

Hi all!

Solved it! Seems these particular files were set to 'Read Only' in the Windows file properties. Not sure why NSCB needed write permission to the files, but clearing this attribute fixed the error.

Thanks to all for their assistance!

The reason you can't have XCI files bigger than 32GB is nothing to do with NSCBuilder or SX OS, it's that the real retail cartridge would need to be a 64GB cartridge and those don't exist yet, Nintendo haven't made any. So the Switch won't allow an XCI that's essentially emulating a 64GB cartridge.
weirdly though, a 36.2gb FINAL FANTASY X X-2 HD Remaster with 2 DLCs xci does work.

This is my first time using NSC Builder. My end goal is just to merge all NSPs (Base game, Latest update & all DLC) in to one XCI. Would just like confirmation I’m doing it correctly please. I’m using the Python version. Load up NSCB. Option 2 (Multi-Pack node). Drag my folder over. It that’s asks me to drag the folder over again. Instead I press 1 to start processing current list. Then “standard crypto options” I press 2 for repack as XCI. “Do you want to patch the required-system-version” 0 to don’t patch the required system version. Finally “how do you want to process the files” 1 to merge all files in to a single file.

I have quite a few to do so just would like to confirm I’m doing it correctly please

+1 you can still choose to install them as well. you can also place them on a hdd and have access to them with no install. so u leave the hdd plug in the dock
Nice that you tell a near-to-day-one thread-joiner and app-user how it works.
For me XCIs from HDD are even slower than from microSD, so ok for storage but not for gaming.
I tried XCIs from HDD with very huge games over 8GB to save space on the microSD but especially with these it's much to slow.
I gave up using the HDD, I just use my 512GB microSD.

Yeah, on the one side you don't need an installation, on the other side XCIs are sometimes much much slower.
That's why I prefer NSPs.
I have been using NSPs since day one. Using SXOS I do like the HDD feature. Definitely slower load times. But I can store many games on there. Copy over to micro sd. Grab and go, which sounds good. The only thing I haven’t tried is. When you install an NSP and XCI. Both same game and same update, I’d presume the file size should be the same?
