https://www.doomworld.com/forum/top...ack-aka-maximum-doom-the-way-kid-did-updated/

I've spent the past few days testing the BIG Vanilla Wad Pack - AKA "Maximum Doom The Way Kid Did" - UPDATED! pack against Wii-DOOM and about 60% seem to work. This pack is an easier way of finding vanilla wads than attempting to scour lists yourself. There's a lot of gaming content in these wads!

i suspect most of those which don't work are because, in reality, they're not vanilla. Annoyingly, Batman Doom doesn't work. The sprites are all invisible. Memento Mori doesn't work either. It's the Doom 2 stuff which has the worst problems.

Doom Zero also works:

The PS3 has its own versions of all Doom wads, other than NERVE.WAD. PS3 DOOM.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD and TNT.WAD work as iwads, however, PS3 DOOM2.WAD doesn't.

These megawads also work:

NJDOOM1.WAD (NJ Doom)
ndcp.wad (Newdoom Community Project)
nmdu.wad (The Ultimate NMD)
PRCP.wad (Plutonia: Revisited Community Project)
WD13.WAD (Wonderful Doom, v.1.3)
DTWID.wad (Doom the Way id Did)
NOVA.wad (NOVA: The Birth)
NEIS.wad (No End in Sight)
ET.wad (Endless Torture)
zone300.wad (Zone 300)
VISPIRE.WAD (Vispire)
urania.wad (Urania)
HEROES2.WAD (Heroes 2)
Interesting, i didn't knew about the existence of these.

The most recent release of Doom 64 for Doom (1.4 released April 2020) has a bug at the start of the second level, where you're blocked by a wall and can't move forward. Memento Mori doesn't work either. It's the Doom 2 stuff which has the worst problems.
Does it? It worked beautifully for me up to 1.2 Final, which i thought was going to be the last one. I am going to download that update to see what's up.

Using 1.4 now. If you're talking about the wall right at the start, you're supposed to shoot the switch to open it. :D

I got stuck later on on the same level, a hidden switch is supposed to let a platform go down, and open another wall, but nothing happens.

EDIT: found this comment:
"The light switch for MAP02 doesn't work on DOSBox unless you use a source port like MBF. The lights don't turn on and nothing opens."

Is anyone using a channel forwarder for their Wii DooM? There seems to be one forwarder out there (which zooms too far into the DooM logo), and I'm wondering if anyone had seen other cleaner forwarders. Otherwise I'm thinking of learning how to edit forwarders...

In my experience, you would be better learning the tools of the trade. Most forwarders are from way too many years ago, many links died in megaupload and rapidshare, and a large bunch is outdated (for USB paths, for example. Many only do SD).

That's good to know. What ARE the tools of the trade? Are there any known guides which can aid me? I would love to learn and make new channel forwarders for DooM, Heretic, and Hexen.

I've arrived late to this party, only recently started doing channels for the Wii U, but not forwarders yet. You'd have to Google your way out, what i know is that there were many guides over the years, so you would have to consolidate and 'modernize' that info. Many of those search results end up pointing to GBATemp, so maybe one of those threads still has semi-active people.

I discovered the PS3 version of MASTERLEVELS.WAD works on Wii-DOOM (when paired with Doom II 1.9). The PS3 organises Master Levels as a single player campaign.

The PS3 has its own versions of all Doom wads, other than NERVE.WAD. PS3 DOOM.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD and TNT.WAD work as iwads, however, PS3 DOOM2.WAD doesn't.

DTWID.wad (Doom the Way id Did)
NOVA.wad (NOVA: The Birth)
NEIS.wad (No End in Sight)
ET.wad (Endless Torture)
zone300.wad (Zone 300)
VISPIRE.WAD (Vispire)
urania.wad (Urania)
HEROES2.WAD (Heroes 2)

Thanks!

https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/akeldama

Akeldama (released June 2020) works on Wii-DOOM. I'm impressed at how performant Wii-DOOM is (as compared to using PrBoom in RetroArch) running a PWAD with large maps like this. I run it overclocked on a Wii U and, by far, it's the best Doom source port I've ever played.

https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Akeldama

Well, no surprise there, nitr8 took the code and did his own personal port and optimizations, one of the reasons it took a while between the last release and the more recent one. We even got a plethora of updates for the other engines and some new ones (WiiROTT rocks).

Did not know about Akeldama, i will definitely test it!

having a bit if an issue here, so i updated from the old 2015 version to the 2020 version of hexen, doom, and heretic. deleted the 2015 app folders and replaced them with the new ones, got all the iwads and pwads together, and now upon attempting to start up any of the i wads on any of the 3 i get an error message saying im missing the pspdoom/pspheretic/psphexen resource wad file, even though they are right there in the root of each one's app folder, is there something im doing wrong here?

Is the prboom.wad in the same folder as the wad files?
