Ugh, what the hell happened? I successfully used ftpiiu several weeks ago to permanently change my plaza

I got bored of seeing the same things, generated a new file today, and now I've got the question marks everywhere and no miis.

Even replacing the file with my original stock 1stNUP won't get rid of it.Could I have put one in the wrong place? Is there anywhere else a file named 1stnup appears in the nand?
this can be solved easily I had the same problem then I solved my problem

Not that I know of, so you probably did put the file in the wrong place by accident. It could also be because of typos on the 1stNUP file. This happened to me, with the typo in question being a missing < character. This made the entire file generate the question marks. So I recommend you check the file to see if there's any typos, as well as checking if you did put the files in the wrong place. If you need further assistance, feel free to send me a PM.

With all due respect, that isn't exactly useful information. It would be best if you described what you did to solve the problem, instead of just saying that you fixed the problem.

Hmm. I used Jemma's automatic generator both times, so while I'll take a look, I find it hard to imagine the file would suddenly have an issue, plus like I said, even trying to restore the old stock file fails.

I did at one point fail (without realizing) to remove a (2) from the end of the filename, leaving the system without a 1stnup file at all for a brief period. I wonder if this may have somehow cleared a cache somewhere and made the wii u forget it was ever connected, causing issues.

As for putting it in the wrong place, I only ever placed it somewhere that a 1stnup already existed. there are some alternate language stock 1stnups (which I tried as well) but I wouldn't have replaced those as they're labeled clearly as alternate languages. I'm pretty stumped how to get back to even just a simple functioning plaza.

Why? Other people may be interested in how to fix that too.
I will be sure to post results with information about whatever may be relevant. At this point, it looks like leaving the olive folder without a correctly named 1stnup file, even briefly, is what causes the wii u to have a permanent freakout, even after correct 1stnups are placed there, even stock versions.

Whether there is a solution to this, or what other parts of the filestructure are the ones affected, remains pending

Just to add a bit more of information, it seems that the exact issue is that when a file is deleted from the Wii U, it would not regenerate whatsoever. So even if a file that was taken from the Wii U is placed back into the console, as far as the Wii U is concerned it is not the same file as before and it would act as if that file does not exist. EDIT: small grammar correction.

And that is the issue. Why not helping them in a public thread so other people can follow that.
Please don't use PM for everything.
you guys don't help me later it ends up getting worse situation
you are not supporting me so of course I will do it in a conversation letter
the good thing is though I always managed to help people
in a conversation letter

It can be a little easier to follow and less spammy discussing minor details in a private thread, but I agree that it's super frustrating to be on a google hunt, find someone with the exact issue from six years ago, then they only posted 'ok guys I solved it' and no other responses or helpful info. I've been there. I will post whatever solution emerges, if any

We are not supporting you because you use questionable methods to fix things.
Is that why you're doing everything in PMs? Because we would criticize you?
We have criticzed you in the past because of those questionable methods to stop misinformation or even prevent bricks.
Please don't do that in PM's. If your methods work and are safe I wont say anything.

Sorry guys, I haven't had this issue, if I did and had a solution I'd share it with you. Thing is, @NintnedoGuyin66 had sent me a PM explaining how he fixed the issue and I intended to add it to this thread, (though I initially assumed he was gonna add his solution himself), but a few days ago, inexplicably he kicked me from that private conversation, so I can't look to see what the solution was again. I'm really sorry I can't share the solution, it was shown to me briefly but I didn't look too hard at it, so I can't even remember anything about the solution either.

I can say that your PC wont boot if you format your drive without trying it.
But I also make mistakes. If you prove me wrong I will most likely accept it and correct my statements.
you haven't done anything wrong the one thing you have been doing you have been saying stuff without even trying them
if you're going to be nicer I'll be very happy appreciate it you just gonna have to work on being a nice person and then everyone and me will be proud of you :) ok bro instead of just telling me to get out you could tell me the things that have to make better I am not sure if you don't understand me it's ok if you want me to stop doing it in a conversation letter there is something that you it's ok never mind because I am still sad about my old thread what you guys said soon I was going to make the change for my thread instead it got ruined
I am now so sad because of that I will continue
