New 'Biomutant' trailer shows off 9 minutes of gameplay

You'd be forgiven if you forgot about Biomutant. THQ Nordic's and Experiment 101's post-apocalyptic open-world RPG with a zoological twist went under the radar after having its 2019 release delayed. However, the devs are still working on the title and have a brand-new, 9 minutes trailer to prove it:

As a refresher, here's the game's premise and feature highlights:

A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided, in need of someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down...

Gameplay features:
  • A NEW TAKE ON 3rd PERSON COMBAT: The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations.
  • EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY: You’ll be able to recode your genetic structure to change the way you look and play.
  • NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTING: Mix and match parts to create your own unique single- or double-handed slash, crush and pierce melee weapons.
  • GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE: You have full freedom when equipping your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons you created, but also what type of gear you wear.
  • SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD: You’ll create your own adventure as you journey explore the open world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon and more.

Moreover, Biomutant is receiving two special editions: a Collector's Edition priced at $110 and an Atomic Edition for a whopping $400, both detailed below:

to be honest, i feel like this game is gonna fail. badly.

the little rat dude on the first picture looks like he was pulled straight from guardians of the galaxy. the troll looking dude looks like a monkey, the size of hulk with pubes as his fur and finally... IS IT A FUCKING LEGO NINJAGO? i mean, he IS playing with lightning. it's cool and all, but not cool enough for me.

oh, one more thing... "they will give a release date when they are happy with it"... i'll just leave it at that.

man, i enjoy shitting on games. please, give me some convo lmao.

Wow, i was excited for this game a year ago. Totally forgot about it. I'm guessing it'll be another year before they are "happy with it" and announce a release date. And by that time they will have to build it for next gen consoles too lol.

Hopefully it will be a good game, if it ever releases.

Also, $400 for a collectors box with a figurine? wowowowow

post-apocalyptic open-world RPG
jesus christ lmao, havent we seen enough of these already? you don't want to have another 7th generation of gaming where the market is oversaturated with FPSes. except this time its not fpses, it's post apocalyptic open world RPGs. Nier automata, horizon zero dawn 1 & 2, last of us 2, breath of the wild, they just keep fucking coming!!!

So much hate here. The internet sure sucks these days. I think it looks neat, a nice change of pace from the overly gritty versions. Looks like it's got a lot of creativity with its world. I prefer that over 'visual perfections befitting a game meant for streaming'. Plus, fur effects tend to be pretty taxing overall. We're still not at the point we can make it look awesome in live gameplay. Not enough demand for it to have properly researched such things.

Anyway, I may pick up the PC version instead of pirating it, just because they stuck with it and made something different.

I really like it. People forget that this is not a AAA title so it'll be rough around the edges but that's ok. I love the uniqueness of it, I'm excited to see how it turns out:D:D:D

how is an RPG with a post-apocalyptic setting supposed to NOT be gritty??

Hmm...i'm a bit worried about this title. It looks...incomplete. The scene with the turtle (or whatever this thing with these brown hairy "arms" is) looked like a prototype or early alpha build from this game.
