This poll is too simple.

If I were to be gifted one (i.e. free to me) I'd say Everdrive X5 Mini. If I were to buy one myself I'd say EZ-Flash Omega. (Everdrive too expensive for me and IMHO features do not justify the extra spend)

Since my SECOND omega broke yesterday (after 2 years of only sporadic use) i would not buy a third one unless they get their quality up significantly. The statistic probability of having two devices randomly fail within two years after only moderate use is so low, that i have to conclude, that the product is simply not worth buying! That is WITHOUT considering the rampant SD corruption, wich is another glaring issue (why the included battery is not used to ensure the saving process is always uninterrupted/protected when the device is powert off, is simply beyond me) So hold of on buying one until they get their act together (wich would also include them stopping their transparent and frankly insulting attempts of trying to put the blame on the user/customer). Since i do not believe that they can or even want to do that... my STRONG recommendation is: just get an Everdrive!

I'd go with the Everdrive. I have the OG x5. The Mini is built better, fits better, and uses less than half of the power of the Omega. The battery life is noticeably way better.

I have the everdrive (full). it works very well aside from having to know your saves. if you try using saves from an emulator or something, you have to know which type they are. it's easy though, cuz it's based on file size. 8, 16, or 32KBs from what I remember. it does the work for you when you save a game. it's just when you import saves. I don't know if the mini does this. it would be more expensive, but I've had no trouble with saves corrupted with the full everdrive. I've even tried immediately shutting off after saving to see if anything happened, nothing.

Omega crashed on me several times during a playthrough of Minish Cap. I backed up my save only to discover later that my most recent saves weren't actually being written to SD. Battery life is significantly less than the GBAX5. If you have the cash I would go Everdrive but the temp review might disagree.

I did a battery comparison of the GBAX5 mini to the Omega if anyone is interested.

I think it depends on how often you'll play it, and how long you'll keep playing it. In the long term I'd say the Everdrive is better value; more stable and less prone to failure. The upfront cost of the Everdrive is the sole reason why I'd recommend the EZ Flash Omega to most people. For most people, it just wouldn't be worth it.

I already have 5 GBA flashcards, I am not in the market for a new one.

The everdrive x5 mini is Interesting and it would certainly be cool to have that one as well, but at its price it's just not something I would want to spend my money on. If it was half the price, I'd consider getting an everdrive as well.

If I were in the market for a new flashcard (that means, if I didn't have one already), I'd go with the Omega again. As it is, It served me well, I haven't had any issues with it (no SD corruption so far), it is a third of the price of the everdrive and comes with more features to beginn with (allthough I don't really use them most of the time).

back in the early 2000s, I purchased a Flash2Advance 128M - which was expensive and can only games up to 16Mb filesize (128M = 128 Mbit). It can only hold between 1-4 games and is really tricky to flash on modern computers (you need a windows XP machine)

Sometime later, I purchased the EZFlash IV micro SD which works just fine and when the EZFlash Team introduced the autopatching kernel, it made it even better.

I then stumbled accross the Supercard SD Mini for 7€ and despite me knowing it's not a good card, I couldn't say no to it for a price that low. Even if it only played a few games, I figured it would do the trick for a bunch of 2 player games and be more convenient than the Flash2Advance.

When the EZFlash Reform was released, I didn't necessarily need a new flashcard, but I found a deal for 24€ which made it an impulse purchase.

The release of the Omega was pretty much the same, I didn't need a new one but the new features (savestates and cheat support) sounded interesting and when one popped up for just over 30€, i purchased one.

So basically, I only bought my Reform and Omega carts because they were cheap.

EDIT: come to think of it, leaving the Flash2Advance aside, the remaining 4 flashcards combined were basically the same price as the everdrive x5 alone.

Good deal , 30 euros! Seems like they’ve gone up quite a bit

At one point, I also had a second EZFlash IV, but that was because I ordered an EZFlash VI NDS card and the seller accidentally sent me a IV.

Come to think of it, I already have a sixth flashcard, as I do have a ezflash 3 in 1 for my NDS Lite.
Seven if you count the K-Card for the Revo K101+ GBA hardware clone that I have, but that card only works on the Revo K101 and not any other GBA hardware.

That's all relative to the year in release for each being "good enough"
Using parallel port (printer cable?) to put a couple of patched roms (if you could get them, google wasn't as good in finding roms back then) on my 256mbit card was totally "good enough"! When a new game came out you would have to wait a couple of days/weeks for the software to be updated (i was definitely a regular at ezflash.cn). We are spoiled nowadays :)

For the poll: I'd go for the omega, better pricepoint. I had a ezflash V die on me but the rest are still going strong (had to change a couple of batteries btw).
