Welcome to 2020, the year of cancellations and delays. Today's latest gaming industry-related delay is in regards to CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077. Previously pushed back to September 17th, the game is now releasing on November 19th, marking the second delay for the game, which was initially planned for an April 16th launch. CD Projekt Red claims that at this point in time, Cyberpunk 2077 is complete; the game's contents, writing, and cutscenes have all been finished, but the team wishes to balance some of the gameplay mechanics, fine-tune everything, and eliminate many of the bugs within the game.

With a game on such a scale they should have aimed for holiday 2020 ngl
especially since CD Project Red is known for quality, I doubt that would have had a negatice impact on sales or revenue

Lol vaporware confirmed. How long ago was that gameplay reveal? I'm convinced it was pre-rendered now.
That would make it one of the ugliest pre rendered video i ever saw lol.

Thats a 8/10 months delay, it's not much, Breath of the Wild got delayed even harder, first announcement was 2014 with gameplay/cinematic footage from the real time engine, announced for 2015, released end of 2017 lol.

Delay can make game really great.

It always makes me a bit suspicious when delays are announced quite early instead of closer to release. I really hope they don't need the extra time to downgrade the graphics.

Not loving it, but I'm sure CDPR will use the extra time wisely where other developers would've stuck to the original release date and put any other content they were working on into paid DLC.

I have a strong feeling this will be free on gamepass the same way Outerworlds was
I feel it's the other way around. They are holding it back so people don't play it before the new consoles come out so they can make more sales. Surely tons of people will buy it as a launch title because it will be the best thing available to play at that time. If it came out in September, people will play it on old console or PC meaning less sales for the new consoles. The Outer Worlds imo was not a AAA game and was too short, making it perfect for gamepass.

No chance, the only reason Outer Worlds was on game pass was because Obsidian knew nobody was happy about Private Division's choice to make it EGS exclusive. Cyberpunk 2077 will be on pretty much every PC storefront at launch, so if it comes to game pass at all it'll be six months to a year after that.

Isn't supposed to be a bundled game with Xbox? It must be a buggy mess if they are still working on the base game instead of the usual day one patch.

This is CDPR we're talking about, not Bethesda. More likely they're trying to cram the base game with 60+ hours of content and add 20+ more per DLC later on.
The tweet literally says that the game is finished and they are only working on balancing and bugfixing now.

I remember back in the day when Blizzard kept pushing Starcraft:Ghost for the Gamecube...It never made it.

You reckon this game looks a tad overhyped? I hope it's actually going to be a good game, will be an interesting to play this myself and see what to make of it.

Oh absolutely, Its another Anthem / Fallout 76 / No Man's Sky.

Just because it is CD Project Red it does not make it immune to disappointing people with their crazy expectations.
I mean, it will surely be better than Fallout 76 though...

Best thing to do with games like this is to wait a year or so for the verdict to be out and the sales to kick in.
