@EZ-Flash2

For all I have read, Firmware 1.4e is working fine with all RTC games. The people having issues problably have bad SD cards. In fact mine came with a fake SD card (seller problem not Flash Junior team).

My point is, please guys now focus on Super Gameboy enhanced games support. And base the new firmware from 1.4e. I bought this card specifically for super gameboy and I imagined you would have the card supporting the Super Gameboy a bit sooner. There has been half a year now :(

Cheers and thank you again.

Get 1.4 and get Pokemon Prism, and tell me if it works.

Pokemon Prism is a game hack, so it is completely irrelevant for testing purposes. Super gameboy on the other hand is 100% real Nintendo hardware/software.

I will still check tomorrow, if Prism works in my Junior for you.

It's a game hack, but it interacts with the same hardware as any other game. Not having Nintendo's stamp of approval doesn't make things magically not work.
(That being said, it's still likely that the bug is on our side. The EZ-Flash people have kindly sent us a cart for testing, which is still being shipped, so we'll be able to figure this out soon enough.)

I won't discuss what you are saying, but I will only say that Flash Junior team should focus on original hardware first and after all that, start working on game hacks. But probably won't be necessary, because if all original hardware and software works 100%, eventually game hacks should too. It is what's fair for us consumers, also as you are someone who has been "given" a copy, you dont count as a consumer, we who bought the product are who they should listen more than anyone else.

I'm not sure you're getting what I'm saying.
All hardware has an interface. In this case, the interface has been well-known and well-documented for years.
The responsibility on both the hardware and the software side is to conform to the interface. We know the original hardware conforms to it (by definition, since that's where the interface comes from), so anything that works with the original interface will automatically work with anything that adheres to it.

There's no need (or at least, there shouldn't be any need) for game-specific hacks as long as everyone follows the same interface. If our code doesn't, it means it wouldn't have worked with original carts either, and we have to fix it. If their code doesn't, it means that other games can also unexpectedly break, and they have to fix it.

Game-specific hacks are something that bad emulators have gotten people used to, to the point I can see people also expecting them in hardware, but they have no need to exist. We all know how these devices should behave. We can even write test ROMs if needed, to compare the behavior against official Nintendo chips. This is merely a problem of non-conformance — we just don't know which side yet, and that's what we have to figure out to see who has to fix things.

@nashismo and @aaaaaa123456789, I think both of you are just talking past each other.

nashismo isn't concerend with the pokemon prism hack and wants Super game boy compatibility (back? As far as I am aware, the card already worked with the Super Game Boy, maybe compatibility was removed in a test-flight release?). He seems to be unaware that you are part of the prism team and there seems to be a large number of EZ-Flash Jr. users that want the issues with pokemon prism fixed - I believe those folks appreciate you trying to figure the issue out in colaboration with the EZFlash team.

I do know he is part of the Prism hack game. Only thing I am saying is that Flash Junior team should focus on original software (games) and hardware (GB, GBC, GBP, Super GB) first. And then focus all their attention on game hacks. Also I disagree with the Prism game developer, if there was an official Pokemon Prism cart working with the Gameboy, then it could count. Maybe there is one that I don't know about with RTC support embedded etc. if not, it is a game that would be irrelevant for testing.

And no, super gameboy support is working half ways, you have to reset the Flash junior twice, then make a prayer to your God of choice, and then, "maybe" it starts. And if it does, Super Gameboy features, like game specific borders and unique super gameboy colored games, don't work.

I understand you want full support of the super gameboy features. You made that clear multiple times. But the EZFlash team has also stated multiple times that they are gonna need to track down a super gameboy first to get full support. You might not be aware, but with china being a very special country with a unique history regarding video game systems, this might not be as easy as you'd imagine.
Meanwhile, there have been even more support requests regarding this specific bug in what appears to be a very popular ROM hack (it appears to be a well polished, ambitious and very playable version). It seems logical for the EZFlash team to dedicate available resources (read: effort) to this issue when they have the opportunity to do so. Let's not ignore the fact that the prism team is here right now with the intent to get down to the cause of the issue. Since they are enthusiasts doing the hack in their free time, that might not always be the case.

So in short:
No one is disputing that full SGB support is something that should be added to the card. That's absolutely a valid request.
But the EZFlash team is focusing on the features they can do right now. They don't have access to a Super Game Boy so they can't work on that support in an efficient manner. So they focus on the work they can do right now: communicating with the pokemon prism team to get to the root of the issue.

I understand what you are saying, and I did not know the Junior Flash team didn't have access to the Super Gameboy. Still, if you ask me, there is no excuse. In my country Chile, 50% of the country is in full lockdown, and the post service is working halfways. I still managed to get a Super Famicom with a Super Gameboy from Japan in March of this year. And chinese who are so close to Japan, who are indeed developing a product for said hardware, should have obtained one before myself. Also, they are cheap and available. If I had an extra one, I would send one to them gladly.

Here's their statement regarding the SGB support:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/ez-flash-wip-report.560689/#post-8995710
Note that they didn't say they are not interested in adding support, but it's lower on their priority list which they probably base on customer feedback (i.e. more people asked about prism support)
Regarding ease of access to the hardware:
You're from Chile and I am from Germany. Both of us are not from china and it is very difficult for us to assert how difficult or easy this would really be. But what I do know is that not only is china generally very protective of their economy (In particular when it comes to Japan) but also that video game systems were banned for a considerable time in the country and mainland chinese society has (or at least had) a very different view on video games than we do. Tracking down or importing a specific video game system or peripheral might not be as easy as it is for you or me in the "western world" where our economic systems differ vastly from that in china. Chinese people can't just hop on ebay and get it sent to them, it might be prohibitively expensive to find an import, it might just be vastly complicated in terms of paperwork. If it was easy, they'd probably already done it, after all it only took them two days to add support for the non-prefix CGB board revision once they got a hold of one.

China is a country that works vastly different than most other countries, the government is hugely involved in every day life. I try to word this in as neutral as terms as possible, because I am not aware of how happy chinese people are with me - an outsider - judging their political or economic system or their culture. We don't need or want to turn this into a political debate after all, that would be way off-topic.

You are so politically correct it hurts. I get it, communist China hates imperialist Japan, somehow I had forgottten that! You did not need to be so apologetic and write so much though! I get it, I was wrong and you are definitely right, it is a shame though.

In fact now I understand why I was able to buy a Gameboy color "board" from China, but only the board! Never the full console! I can be such a naive dumbass sometimes. Cheers and let's hope they can continue working on the Junior! I believe this could become the BEST gameboy flashcart ever, I tell you that.
