A developer build of the cancelled version of Dead Island 2 has appeared online, alongside footage
2020 could quite possibly be the year of leaks, as yet another early build for a game has appeared online. A few years ago, a release of Dead Island 2 would have been expected, but now, in this new decade, Dead Island's sequel is well on its way to becoming the next Duke Nukem Forever. Announced in 2014, Dead Island 2 was planned to be the follow up to 2011's Dead Island, and was planned for release in 2015. Obviously, the game didn't make its launch window, and eventually was canceled, only for publisher Deep Silver to revive the game, where development was shifted from Yager Development to Sumo Digital, and then from Sumo to Dambuster Studios.
The last time we heard word on Dead Island 2 was back in August 2019, where it was still promised to release, eventually. with retailers even giving it a 2020 launch window for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. While we continue to wait, wait, and wait for Dead Island 2 to finally reach completion, those interested in the series can check out some new-old footage that has leaked from a developer build of the game dated June 2015. This would have been the original gameplay planned for Dead Island 2, back when Yager Development was still helming the project early on, meaning anything seen in this working build has likely been scrapped.
