Hacking Question Updating a game while in CFW?

Is there a high chance of getting banned? I updated Pokemon Shield while in Atmosphere CFW. When the update was done, I went into airplane mode. I assume it's ill advised to update my games that way? I'm new to homebrew, so what is the proper procedure to update my games while using CFW?

did you download the game from the internet or is it your original copy? expect a ban soon as im pretty sure you have homebrew on ur device

I have the game cartridge. I downloaded an update file for it.

yeah but Nintendo checks for licences of every title you own when you go online. So having Atmosphere CFW only is not the issue but when they see that you have tinfoil installed that has obviously no license at all (cuz it's unsigned) or any other homebrew application that has no valid license you get flagged and banned in the next ban wave so enjoy ur last online time as it lasts (depends on whether you had them installed or not). But I'm pretty sure you had a homebrew app installed like every other average homebrew user so I'm pretty sure that u will get banned in a week or month if not sooner.

How can I tell if I get banned? Cause I've actually done this before, I believe with BotW,and that was a long time ago. I can still update my games and browse the Nintendo Eshop. I never play online though.

you can only check if ur banned or not. There's no way of checking if ur flagged. But my guess is that Nintendo checks your titles and their licenses on random times and not every minute (too save bandwith) so maybe you got lucky in that brief online moment and didn't get checked and that's why u didn't get banned but this is of course just speculation.
If you delete every unlicensed title (downloaded nsps and homebrew apps) you shouldn't be banned.

That doesn't matter anymore as his NAND is tainted, he will get ban once he goes online in Pokemon Sword/Shield.

and if that’s the case then why didn’t he get banned after updating BotW long time ago?

Running CFW on a NAND makes it tainted, as it is no longer clean if he want to go online he has to restore a clean NAND that he makes prior to loading any homebrew/CFW via Hekate as it doesn't touch horizon OS. Since he installed an update for the game via NSP or through Nintendo Server, he tainted the NAND as he is in CFW, the moment he goes online with that dirty NAND he will get ban most likely, especially pokemon as the game has an online service.

I don’t see any reason why updating a cartridge game, that he owns and has a valid license, via Nintendo servers would make the NAND “tainted” (and I also don’t understand why you say he updated via NSP which he never said he did?) and running CFW only (without any homebrew) was proved to be not a ban flag.

scires Reported that Nintendo implemented a very effective anti piracy system that checks whether a license is valid or not and issues system bans this way.

Based on what he said he said so far that he download an update file, not directly updating from Nintendo Server so he must had ran a homebrew like gold leaf to update it. Hopefully, the OP can be more clear on this I guess.

Because I'm new to all this, please excuse my lack of the correct terminology. I'll explain this the best I can. I haven't been on my switch for a long time. I booted my switch up normally and updated it to 10.0.3. Took my SD card out and completely wiped it. Moved the required Atmosphere and Hekate files to my SD. Created my partition, created my emuMMC, booted into CFW emuMMC. Got to my homescreen, went to Album to see the apps I had on my SD. Updated Pokemon by Options/Software Update/Via internet. I never installed anything or ran Goldleaf, or tinfoil. I did use Checkpoint, but that's it.

Checkpoint count as homebrew, but since you are on Emumand you should be fine, don't go online on that emulated nand.

I updated my game, connected to the internet, while in that Emunand. I wont get banned by doing that?

You can't go online in emunand, that would just get you ban.

If your goal was to edit pokemon you should have bought a separate unit and edit on the hacked unit and keep your other unit clean, that what I am doing.

I was definitely online in the Emunand, or I wouldn't have been able to update the game via internet, right? And I know I've definitely done that before with BoTW and Pokemon Shield again. So.. not sure why I'm not already banned. Maybe I've just been lucky.
