Where have they said to avoid it? All they've said is that it's unofficial but are working with that developer. If they were untrustworthy, why would the Citra team be working with them?

Maybe avoid was a wrong word to use, but i mean that the team doesn't want links to it etc. & that they say this "Citra currently does not support Android or iOS, only desktop x64 systems." currently which is why i said it's untrustworthy IMO as the team doesn't have their fingers dipped in it at the moment or to share officially.

Hum, i think they are gonna make a less powered switch, only portable, no hd vibration etc, so they can take the price low, like to cover the 3ds level.
Nintendo knows his point is the portable market, hybrid or just portable. Competing again with the same against ps4 and Xbox doesnt have any sense.

Think everyone is forgetting that most emulators for the switch at the moment are using only interpreter, not jit or a recompiler. (or is wip recompiler) I personally believe the switch should be able to run 3ds games no problem, but I think both the emulation on the switch side, along with the citra emulator itself still needs to be optimized. It's not crazy to ask that, it is crazy however to ask for xbone, xbox 360 and ps3 or ps4 emulation. Highly doubt that would ever exist.
Believe it or not I got rpcs3 to run was playing infamous 2 at ~10fps

Check out grabman on youtube. He shows extensive gameplay of Citra 3ds core running on nsw through retroarch. m4xw is currently working on it.

awesome, just incredible
2 days ago i knew about this and was very surprised of how well it runs, maybe we will have full speed even soon?
Yeap, the core is solid, I guess this year probably we will get a very good performance with a set of games.

Check out the Pokemon Omega Ruby, runs amazing

LOL, some of these posts didn't age well...
I mean, since most if not all people that post aren't actually emulation developers I think it's fine. While I think people shouldn't talk about things they don't understand, some skepticism is always good in these cases so people don't keep holding their breaths for anything.

It is not free. You will have to pay for it when it is available on play google. I will not pay for it.
It'll be open source, so payment is optional, you can always grab the code and compile yourself or grab the apk built by other people in case they're not released on github. I myself have nothing against good devs having some money, so I'll be sure to buy it on playstore as soon as it's stable.

could this ever play online with real 3dses?

Is Citra on pc able to play online? If so maybe if not most likely not.

Just read Citra supports local wireless multiplayer that can be played over internet so maybe. Flycast Dreamcast emulator on switch has a few online games working.

Oh you said with real 3dses not unhacked ones that use Nintendo's online servers.

Maybe. Once Nintendo close their servers people could start reverse engineering it like they did with the Wii resulting in Wiimmfi, with a more open service this is possible. While Nintendo servers are online I really doubt anyone will lose precious time working on it as it would probably require certification files from a real unbanned 3ds to make it work.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
