@RetroKarl please give me the full name of pokemon games which you mentioned in last post, such as gold, crystal.

This ones are almost all the version that I use, the ones of my last post-test are the ones with the "O", the Crystal with the "X" is the only one that I have not tested yet. And the other ones, I tested all of them in my past tests.

(It's IMPORTANT to clarify that all the issues listed above happened after several saves, if someone wants to reproduce these issues, you will have to create a new game save, probably pickup you initial pkmn, save in game, turn off/on-reset, save backup file in EZflash jr, reload game and repeat this process at least 12 times to be sure, verifying the correct time-date in loading and ingame (pokegear), if there's no issue at all, then I think I have a defective unit :s , right now I just have the confirmation of another person of the issue of the time-date changing randomly at loading screen and then getting back to the correct time-date one day later)

I'm using two Gameboy Colors for the test, one Grape and one Atomic Purple with no modifications at all.

Retrocarl, also DO NOT use the SD card that came with your Flash Junior! At least my seller sent me an Original Flash Junior but as I saw the SD card had no brand (8GB), I took it out immediately and replace it with a 4GB Toshiba I took from my 3DS.

In fact, later I came back to that 8GB SD card and it was DEAD, it was chinese knockoff SD card, had to throw it away. I recommend a program called FAKEFLASHTEST.exe

Cheers, and it is only an advice just in case.

Thank's for the advice, but my EZ Flash Jr didn't come with one microSD card. And also I always avoid using fake-knockoff cards.

My test cards (all of them are from radioshack, walmart, office depot, office max or an authorised AData official reseller) now are:

1gb Sandisk Original
2gb Sandisk Original
8gb Sandisk Original
16gb AData class 10 Original

When I have time I will test with my 32gb Sandisk Ultra also original, to see if something changes. Thanks for you reply.

That's great! From my experience is always good to do what you do, buying from legit retail stores, never from aliexpress etc. Also the best SD cards for me, have been Sandisk brand. I have an Adata 32gb, and I use it with my Wii, but it always gives me problems, don't recommend the brand. Adata pendrives on the other hand, I have had great experience with them.

Yep, Sandisk For the Win XD, but pff, they are lowering quality :/ at least in USB drives, the last ones that I bought from them, they heat up a lot, and 1 out of 4 was defective. That's why sometimes I go for AData, but I share your opinion, its like a roulette:

microSD 16gb class 10 (2017) Fine, Perfect
microSD 16gb class 10 (2019 same model) like 30% slower
SSD 256GB SU800 (2017) Fine, Perfect
SSD 240GB SU650 (2018) Heat up a lot
and the list continues...

BTW I will try to get roms from another source to see if my issue continues.

Thanks for sharing. For games I recomend no intro games which you can search on the Internet archive.

Well, that's the thing, my main GB & GBC ROM-SET is done according to the No-Intro database, dated from 2012 (It said this info in a txt). In my experience with this roms all of them are super clean, and zero issues. But thanks for the advice.

I understand the concern behind this, appending the data to the save can potentially cause incompatibilities. Would it be reasonably possible to instead save the additional data in a separate file (romname.rtc for example)?
Maybe that's an option, I mean, several emulators use this resource (.rtc file) to get the job done. But since we are talking about emulators vs real hardware, I don't know.
I wonder if there are any RTC test ROMs out there. I think there are none for MBC3 in general, but I may be wrong.
Yes, I agree, one "Rtc Test Rom" like this would help a lot.

Hello, thanks a lot for this thread.
It helps me a lot to understand why my Ez Flash Jr wasn’t working on my GBC.
But I have another problem : I flash it with one of the FW5 of this thread (the second one) on a GB Pocket. And since then, I cannot use the EZ Flash anymore, neither on GBC or GBP.
Is there a way to recovery ? Or some other way to use the EZ Flash ?

Hi, PoorGamer, what screen do you get when booting the EZ Flash Jr? Do you turn off completely the console after flashing? (Remember, when flashing is done, you have to turn off/on the console, NEVER reset with the cartridge button)

With this issue I think I would try to use the "ezgb.dat" from another Kernel, like Kernel 1.05 (5-27 test) or Kernel 1.04e official just to see if it boots. If you make it work, test it sometime before trying to install another firmware.

If your issue continues I think I would try another microSD (remember, try to use FAT32 & 32kb Cluster) also with a different Kernel. If you make it work, test it sometime before trying to install another firmware.

Thanks for the fast answer.
I did power off completely the GBP after flashing (don’t even know how to soft reset before )
I got several different screens :
Sometimes it stuck on OSINIT, some other times blanck/black screen, sometimes strangers glitches. It worked once, after a soft reset... I never succeed make it working again.
I tried the différents solutions you propose, but none worked. Right now, I’m out of time, I’ll retry soon.
Again, thanks for helping

Ok, so mmm, I would try with the Kernel from the Firmware that is installed to get it to boot another time (with the upadate of the FW4 already in the microSD), and if it gets it working just once I would flash it (FW4). Then replace the ezgb.dat with the one of the Kernel 1.04e, to be like Stock from factory.

(Also, with this procedures, ALWAYS use batteries with a good charge on them, at least 1.35v each one, to elimitate external factors that could cause any malfunction)

Also maybe I would try to remove the battery from the EZ Flash Jr and then get it back to see if it helps, but DON'T do that right now. Let's wait for other answers-opinions first.

I'm using FW5 K1.05e. It's a unstable release, I know, but, it's normal for the .sav files to disappear? Lost Link's Awakening v1.0 progress.

Keitai Denjuu Telefang is also having RTC problems. On firmware 5, after a reload, the RTC will reset to midnight + however many minutes have passed from the last time the game was loaded, and time will refuse to pass in-game. This wasn't the case in version 4, so it is clearly something to do with version 5's RTC changes. Can we get a fix for that, and if not, the option to turn these changes off and on?

Unstable here (Everything RTC related). But I've never had a ".sav" file disappearing. That's a first. You can try FW4 Kernel 1.04e Offical, it was way more stable in the "reset-power off/on" saving procedure. At least for my EZFJr.

That sounds similar to some issues that me and one mate in another forum have with the Pkmn 2nd Gen RTC games in FW5 Kernel 1.05.

FW5 Kernel 1.05 behaviors NOT present in FW4 K1.04e:
-The game asks you to set the time again.
-The game changes randomly the date-time while loading save.
-Sometimes the time will not move at all while you’re not in game (sometimes even in game).
-Time gets back like 4-5 minutes or to a static time-date for no reason.
-When you reset-power off/on a lot of times trying to get the correct hr on game loading screen you can get the surprise of the RTC of the EZFjr resetting to 2000/00/00 00:00:00. (Also happens when you force RTC several times to test ingame behavior).
-The issue above then causes the RTC games to get stuck on the "Loading" screen of the EZFJr menu. Maybe because the game is trying to load from RTC the day "0" and it's not a valid value.
-The EZFJr RTC individual values jumps for miliseconds randomly, and gets back to the correct one. (It happens some times, not all the time, but when it's happening it causes new issues).
-Some times after discarding, or saving the "save backup" you can move to the RTC window and see that the RTC of the Flashcard is stuck. But if you reset-power off/on the time is fine. Very weird.

In all the tests that we perform, we notice, that it was very important the RTC time when the save is created. If it's created early in the morning, it seems to give less problems than creating it from 17:00 to 20:00 for example.

UPDATE: I ordered and received another EZFJr and just finish a little test with FW4 (Factory) Kernel 1.04e and in this one the RTC is working fine in game, the issue of the first one of 40 secs in the correct time, and 20 secs in the wrong one (in Loop) is not present in this one. Any ideas? We are talking about:

-Defective cards?
-Different PCB Revs?
-Different quality-brand of internal components of the EZFJr?

Because the mate in the other forum also has almost all the issues with the RTC of the 5-27 test. Thanks in advance for your attention.
