20200403.jpgIs there an alternate point for the microSD? I somehow managed to rip that tiny dot

you can put it where the point where even if the two of them are missing , make sure you touch the track/line to those point.
if you can't , there is another solution don't worry , but it's necessary to remove the motherboard .
you have to solder on the flip motherboard side , there are the same point.
edit : take a look here , 2nd page #30 post

@Xyphoseos your mSd card reader seams ok , there are no apparent disoldered pins.

-for the materials , you need some AWG40 wire , like @LittlestCube tube does/buy , he could advice you ;)

-for the missing pin in you are right it's orange ; and to make sure :

@Sushi4life i know it's hard , because it's tiny.
but i advice you to not mess up other component like l see in your image .
the trick is you have to go precise, and if you can ,don't let the head of the soldering iron in one place for long time because of the heat.

if you are not sure let somone else do it , like you did firt time.
but it's just an advice ;)

edit : i take a look at the image and here you go
in the circle you can eventually solder there.
the problem is the arrows , it seams there is no line/track countinuing to that point , i hope im wrong.
but if it's true , you have to solder in the flip side of the motherboard.

sorry ,i never ordered those wires and my materials are generic ones , found on traditional stores.

my soldering iron has +10 years old , and i used a fat wire ( not recomended ) like you saw in 1st page.

since all stores are closed , you still can find those in the super market of your town ( where electronics are)
but be carefull and wear a mask.

personally i don't order on internet store for now ( amazon ....)
because someone can contract this COVID-19 by my fault ( warehoused dispatchers/ deliverers / postal employees )

since it's just my personal opinion , every one do what he could right now ;)

Yes sadly the line was broken. I did solder to the point but when I pulled a bit the wire to adjust the placement of it, the line started to rip away from the board :(. I am trying to find some hint on where to solder at the back. The only guidance was from this thread where someone had a similar problem but different missing pin : https://gbatemp.net/threads/about-the-microsd-card-connector.523130/page-2

flip side : it's simple, the same process as the diagram but it's just in flip mode.
you are right and i'm wrong , try contact @mattytrog he has much experience on the board.

but , how about this : solder at the base of the lego conector , just solder what missing , in your case it's the pin on the circle.

note : the problem is i can't see if you damaged the others connections/lines/tracks to the points on the motherboard !

this is an example to where to solder
:
image deleted , risk of desinformation.

advice : you need practice , or at least when you solder something tiny like those , you need to do it right away , don't let the head of the soldering iron rest beside the lego conector ,because the heat can desolder or even damage the plastic parts of it.

if you can afford money to do this with an professional hand , do it , if not it's on your own risk.

Edit : i was thinking , if you solder from the base of the lego conector , it will be no benefict !
because the line who goes to the points on the mother board is broken
one choise ,the flip side.

Of course! Sorry, school has been absolutely destroying me and I kept forgetting to reply:

I went with an iron that had a more precise tip and comes with solder. If you're willing to pay a little bit more money, you can purchase the one that comes with more solder, a spudger and a holder.

I would also recommend purchasing a brass sponge to wipe your iron during the process when needed.

In terms of wire, I recommend AWG40 wire, if that wire item on Amazon runs out (as I'm looking at it right now there is only one left in stock) this appears to be the same thing.

To test and make sure that your connections are good to go, you'll need a multimeter. It seems super complicated, but the only setting you'll really need to use is the one near the bottom-right that looks like a WiFi signal and a megaphone. You can find tutorials online for more info about using a multimeter to test soldering connections. here's one that I used, you can scroll down and read the section under "Checking for Continuity."

You'll need both a Y00 screwdriver and a PH000 screwdriver. DON'T TRY TO USE A DIFFERENT SIZE! The Switch's screws are especially picky, and they strip very easily. You can try and google for these two screw types (they're annoying to find), but if you can order off Walmart, here's a set similar to the one I used. You can use ifixit's tutorial for getting to the SD Reader, and after that just unscrew all the screws attached to the metal plate.

Note that really the only required items are the soldering iron, solder and the wire. You can substitute a brass sponge with a normal wet sponge, but I've heard that can really damage your iron, so I wouldn't recommend it.

TL;DR:

That was a lot, so I'll condense all the links down here:

- iron that has a more precise tip and comes with solder OR one that comes with more solder, a spudger and a holder

- brass sponge

- AWG40 wire OR if out of stock other AWG40 wire

- multimeter AND here's a tutorial that I used under "Checking for Continuity"

- here's a set of screwdrivers similar to the one I used AND ifixit's tutorial for getting to the SD Reader, and after that just unscrew all the screws attached to the metal plate.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.

I will put this repair stuff at a pause since I also have university and there is the self-isolation going on here that made lots of stores close. I might find a clue where to solder at the back of the motherboard and who would be able to in my local area.

Thank you for your help! Sorry that my skills was not enough to make it a success and feel like wasted... At least my switch still works :) since I used CFW with emunand.

Does anyone has a picture with all the test points soldered?
the persons who have this issue , have 2,3,4 pins disoldered , so they just solder what missing.
perhaps @LittlestCube ,he has posted an image of the sd reader completely soldered , i think he would solder all points.

- why do you need to see those points soldered ?

I need to solder all the pins my switch doesn't have the connector. If somebody did that would like to see it... Do I need to also solder the green on the capacitor?

Hi @Sushi4life
the same thing happened to me
the whole line comes off moving the cable
never imagine that they could be so fragile
Could you find the rear weld point?

It must not be getting a good enough ground to trigger the 'microSD inserted' signal. If you are getting ground on the metal cage then solder but not on the right-most pin, then solder them to each other.

Hi all had the same problem and I bought a new sd card reader to fit, had 2 pins stuck in one reader and 1 in another, just managed after half hour or so to place all 3 pins back in position using some tweezers, about to reassemble switch now, fingers crossed
