It can probably work but the batteries are different shapes so it will only work if you hold it in place somehow all the time
If the battery connectors dont aline due to using a dsi battery in a 3ds. means your shit outta luck with that option.
Nah I dont have the dsi battery right now but im just trying to see will it even work.Like I said when i plug the charger in nothing happens.No charging light nothing. I tried opening it but the screws are not even moving...My nintendo 3ds xl has been sitting for years now

Water damage is often a death sentence.
You might be looking at either replacing the motherboard or getting another 3DS system.
Is yours an o3DSXL or n3DSXL?
3DS systems won't turn on if the battery is missing or completely dead (can't be charged or hold a charge).
When you plug in the AC charger, does the o3DSXL momentarily lights up the orange charging LED indicator for like 5 seconds and then turns off the light? If it does that, that means the o3DSXL itself might not be dead.
Here are options in buying small screwdrivers. Because the back plate on the o3DSXL is particularly small, I recommend getting both 'PH00' and 'PH000' sizes.

Screws that are hard to remove could be held down in tension due to [ bulging / swollen / ballooned / puffed up / expanded / inflated ] battery pushing against the cover. If you find out the battery is like this condition, dispose of it immediately.

But there is another thing when my 3ds xl got water damaged the other day i plugged it in it didint even turn on it just had the charging light but when like a year or two passed it didint even turn the light on so i think the battery is dead cause ive read if the console sits for a couple of years the battery might stop working
Replace the o3DSXL motherboard.It doesn't even blink when i plug it in it just does nothing
