A little while back I heard that we can now make CIAs of PS1 games that run at 100% speed. I have been trying to play Metal Gear Solid through retroarch but have had to flip between frames skipped every so often to keep it running smooth. Would creating a CIA of the game provide any increase in performance? I understand that both run through retroarch but I want to make sure.

Straight and to the point, thanks. One related question though, on the official forwarder creating page they had a setting where you could pick high resolution and low framerate and vice versa. What settings did these affect?

Make your iso/bin into a PBP or CHD file. Set audio sampler to nearest, audio synchronization off and sound interloption off. Those things make massive performance differences.
