How to setup SysDVR with playable latency

There doesn't seem to be much documentation on this, so I decided to write up a guide. With my testing I can't get audio working, it breaks everything severely. If you can get audio working with the same low-latency, let me know and I'll update the guide.

Downloads:

Extraction:
  1. Extract either SysDVR.zip or SysDVR-USB-Only.zip to the root of your SD Card
  2. Extract vlc-2.2.8-win[32 or 64].7z to its own folder
  3. Extract SysDVR-Client.7z to its own folder

VLC Setup:
  1. Start vlc.exe from your VLC folder
  2. If prompted, do not update VLC
  3. Select "Tools" > "Preferences" at the top of the window
  4. Select the "Inputs / Codecs" Tab
  5. Set "Hardware-accelerated decoding" to "Automatic"
  6. Set "Live555 stream transport" to "RTP over RTSP (TCP)"
  7. Set "Show settings" in the bottom-left corner to "All"
  8. Select the "Inputs / Codecs" Tab
  9. Set "Network caching (ms)" to 100
  10. Select "Save"

USB Setup (Skip if using network):

  1. Connect your switch to your PC via USB (Tested using USB 3.0)
  2. Launch Zadig
  3. Install the libusb-win32 driver for the device SysDVR (Nintendo Switch) [Ensure the Device ID is 057e 3006 before installing. If you are using the full version of SysDVR on your Switch make sure to start it using the SysDVR config in the Homebrew Launcher.]

Network Setup (Skip if using USB):

  1. Open the Homebrew Launcher
  2. Launch the SysDVR Config app
  3. Select "Stream over RTSP"
  4. Close the Homebrew Launcher

Launch (USB):

  1. Connect the Switch to your PC via USB
  2. Open a compatible game on the Switch (Games that support capture recording)
  3. Open SysDVR-Client.exe on your PC
  4. Type "SysDVR-Client.exe bridge [Your PC's IP Adress Here] --no-audio and hit 'Enter'
  5. Open VLC
  6. Inside VLC select "Media" > "Open Network Stream..."
  7. Type or copy/paste "rtsp://127.0.0.1:6666/" (Without the Quotes) and select "Play"

Launch (Network)

  1. Open a compatible game on the Switch (Games that support capture recording)
  2. Open SysDVR-Client.exe on your PC
  3. Type "SysDVR-Client.exe bridge [Your Switch's IP Adress Here] --no-audio and hit 'Enter'
  4. Open VLC
  5. Inside VLC select "Media" > "Open Network Stream..."
  6. Type or copy/paste "rtsp://127.0.0.1:6666/" (Without the Quotes) and select "Play"

You should be all set up! You can now follow the launch instructions whenever you'd like to stream.

This guide was written/tested using the USB mode. The network instructions were pieced together off information that I could find, so please let me know if there are any issues, I will edit the guide. If you need any help/support feel free to leave a comment!

If you can't get it to work (or just have black screen on VLC) and are on Windows 10:
Disable the Windows firewall, then it should work. It blocks some media players from the internet, idk why

you can use an aux cord and plug it into the microphone jack, and turn on stereo mix, make it listen to the "microphone"
not sure if there would be that much delay or if any. might not sound that good

Hello, did someone try USB streaming with SysDVR & it prompts the "Warning: winusb error Timeout while requesting data"?
May I know how to fix it?
My device is a switch lite with sxos. I tried to re-install the WINUSB driver many times. It only works if I checked "Force Libusb backend", but the graphics are choppy & laggy.
Thanks a lot!

I found out it is not my PC/switch lite problem. That is because SysDVR cannot stream all the games smoothly neither with the default player or MPV. Some games may be choppy or full of noise on the screen. E.g. Curse of the Moon 2, labyrinth of refrain.
Hopefully it will be fixed later. Thanks.
