The Sonic movie will be getting a sequel

VDgUTil.png

Paramount and SEGA will be working together on a Sonic movie once more, as they create a sequel to the popular Sonic the Hedgehog film from earlier this year. The new movie is in the early planning stages, so it's unknown if the cast, including Jim Carrey will be in the sequel, but the previous team who wrote and directed the movie--Jeff Fowler, Pat Casey, and Josh Miller--have all been confirmed to return.

Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy confirmed on Thursday that they have commenced development on a sequel to the live-action family comedy. The sequel would reteam the filmmakers, with Jeff Fowler directing, and Pat Casey and Josh Miller writing the script.

The movie is still in the development stage so decisions have not been made yet regarding casting or a production start date.

Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher and Toru Nakahara are producing the pic, while Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi and Tim Miller are executive producing.

They really should have Shadow though. Let's say Eggman while trying to find a way to return to Earth happens upon the Space Colony ARK (maybe he builds a really primitive rocket). And then teams up with him. We already know in this continuity he knows Tails, despite him not being shown until after the credits which means he has to have met him in his original world, or if he's been to any others possibly in one of those. That means there's a chance he's met Knuckles too. Or he can meet him early on if they want to keep the Knuckles getting duped by Eggman plot point. Better yet have the Chaos Emeralds stolen (let's say in this canon they're with the Master Emerald) and have Knuckles looking for them, that way we have something resembling his original goal of protecting the Master Emerald. Sonic & co. know have to find them before Eggman and Shadow do, and it gives us a Super Sonic vs Super Shadow (or just Super Sonic vs Shadow and Eggman) fight since we didn't get to see Super Sonic in the first movie, and instead got super fast lightning generating Sonic.

ok i want super sonic now, the director said that he didn't wanted super sonic in the first movie because it would be too rushed, at least give chaos emeralds or more of the sonic universe, i really want to see more of the fantasy thing with other characters and that island

Oh gosh, I bet it's about Shadow

I hope they aren't looking for a cash grab and try to make a quality sequel

Dear Yuji Naka, you aren't suggesting we're gonna get this:

History would be repeating itself like this in relation to this movie's prequel:

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Oh, so you hate Pokemon as well? :teach:

Yeah, but isn't that part of the point of Pokemon? The trainer and the pokemon being one going against the other team consisting of what I'm assuming is usually either wild Pokemon or other trainers and their Pokemon? Like, I haven't played a single Pokemon in my life, but even I know the basic premise from reading Smash Bros. Trophy descriptions (don't you love that these were replaced with .pngs?) and what little I've heard about the series in the past.

Yeah Jim Carrey eluded to this in an interview months back saying how the Mushroom Planet will have a physical effect on him that fans will relate to “eventually” plus I think Sega might be releasing info tomorrow about the movie :toot: but my little guy loved it and will be excited to know a sequel is coming

Not very surprising but it gets me excited. The first one was a shockingly great family film, and as a lifelong Sonic fan it was everything I could’ve wanted. Looking forward to the sequel!

lol it's actually not as bad as i was expecting after all the outlash from the trailers

It would have been alright if Sonic didn't just so happen to have a strong interest in our culture, not to mention knowledge of things from our world. That's the part that got under my skin the most. Remove that, and I would have enjoyed myself.

More mado scientisto please.
Seriously, Carrey stole the show.

Like Burton in the early ninties, I wouldn't dislike a movie about the vilain with the hero as a side character.
