Does it work or you need to update 10+? Also, is there a tracker for minimum software required to run each game out there?

It's just best to stay up with the firmwares. 99% of the time that will be your problem is that you're on an older firmware. With ChuidujourNX it isn't too difficult to update.

I agree and disagree all my games work on 9.1.0 sometimes when you update firmware certain apps wont run well when you update. Theres always risks when you are upgrading unofficially through ChuidujourNX. There will be a time when you need to update but update only needed to not to play cat and mouse.

All firmwares that worked on 9.0+ work on 10.0+ though. It was different when you updated from 8.0 to 9.0 because controls were broken and you had to update all apps.

Even if they stop working you can almost always update them to the newer apps and you're fine.

Haven't run into any problem on 10.0.2, according to what people had said CFW work fine on 10.0.3, it is up to the people if they want to update or not, beside 10.0.x has no new key as oppose to 9.1.0

I guess it's just me I'm so used to my PS Vita and PS3 being on old firmware I rarely update my system. I'm crossing my fingers that Borderlands and Bioshock works on my firmware and I'm kinda done with switch games for a very long time I don't see another game that I'll be interested in to upgrade.

Some people only use their sysnand and I hear some horror stories go wrong when they update and a certain file is missing from the firmware package. Even if I do update in the near future I'll keep my sysnand where it is and only update the emmunand I guess that's risk free if something goes wrong but idk.

That's why you make a Nand backup anyone doing this should be doing that at least once every few months, ideally every time before you update.

I guess just see if the DLC will prompt you to update. I know I experienced that with DFZ Kelfa but I ended up buying that game offically on my Doe MK-11 require you to link your Nintendo Account? I remember when I had the game it had hung and never went to the title screen when I read online it says you need to link an account? I have the real game but I was interesting in getting the NSP version with all the DLC but I dont want to link my account

Do you know whats funny I never once used my nand backup I always use Haku33 whenever I want to go back to OFW completely but I do have Nand Backup ready just incase if I brick my system.

The hope is nobody ever has to use Nand backup. It's not meant to be used, it's meant to save your ass if needed. Anyway this is kind of a pointless back and forth so I am ceasing.

Not this.

If you followed this advice while on SXOS you're probably getting a ton of crashes in games that worked perfectly fine before, and for no good reason since most don't even require 10.x. Updates should be put off as long as possible until absolutely necessary, unless you're ready to deal with potential bugs or downgrading

Completely false, I am on latest SXOS latest firmware and there's no crashes. You're going to have to update one day or another I am not saying to update day one when it's out but if you do it within a month that's the best way. If you want to stay on older firmwares and ask why your games aren't working be my guest, but you can't stay on 8.1 forever or 9.1 or whatever, you've eventually going to have to update or miss out.

And anyone who tries to downgrade usually ends up making a thread saying "my Switch won't turn on after I downgraded"

@OP if you have an emunand just update I was against updating for a long time but it was a smooth process

Completely agree with you because I think like that I was on 9.1.0 for like 4 months but lots of DLC was comming out. the Base game worked fine but the DLC wasn't working so I went ahead and updated my emmunand. to 10.0.2 everything works smoothly I guess it's best to wait for stability and update accordingly.

Of course right after I say that updating doesn't break anything, there's a problem with latest SXOS Beta 2.95 with the Bioshock games lol. Oh well, I have those on other systems. I would still rather break those 3 games and be able to play everything else than be on an old firmware and not be able to play a lot of new things. Yes sometimes you can get away with playing certain games on say 9.1, but then they'll come up with an update or DLC and you have to be on 10.0.3 to use the update for example. I just wait a couple weeks after the update find out if it's generally safe and update and never had a problem personally.

But see in the case of Bioshock those games came out after 2.9.5 so there's no way to account for games working that aren't out yet.
