I was considering a possibly confusing save game transfer. I would transfer a ACNH save/account from my legit Switch to my CFW Switch. Modify the map/terrain with NHSE and then transfer it back to the legit switch via NTDO's transfer tool.

First question, is this even possible? I read that you could transfer profiles or savedata from one Switch to another but it'd more of a move than a copy, so the source Switch would lose the data. But, with JKSV, I'm thinking I could transfer, back up, and send it back.

Second, if it's possible, would this be a high risk of ban on the legit Switch?

1. I'm not sure if that's even possible as well

2. If the save editor is not used properly, then yes, it's a high risk of getting banned. I've heard people say editing turnip prices is a red flag to Nintendo but I did it before and so far no ban. But still risky af, same goes for me completing the museum and critterpedia.

I don't think it's possible (right now anyway) to transfer your save unless your legit Switch is also hackable.

I just wanted to contribute to this thread since I read through it all before deciding to do some save editing myself.

I boot into sysnand with cfw and grab my save with JKSV and edit items/map on my computer with NHSE. I then reinject the save back into the game while in sysnand with cfw. Boot into sysnand w/o cfw and make a save on stock. I have not been banned.

I also do this in Pokemon and edit my pokes with pkhex and have been doing this for almost a year w/o a ban.

Yea, just realized that. I found most other games could transfer saves but not ACNH...darn.

Even if it was available let’s say you transferred your hacked save to your unmodded switch. Assuming you didn’t do something obvious like Star trees, inject all bugs/fish via pocket spawning (this method does not fill your critterpedia) aren’t you looking to get banned? Idk

I doubt people will get banned at this point. Nintendo hasn't implemented any anti-cheat measures in save files (they have anti-cheat for online play though i.e. activating edizon cheats).
And so many innocent people have traded hacked items, wrapped fish/bugs and villagers with incorrect furniture. Having a massive banwave will probably result in riot.

The most they might do to clean up the situation is delete the hacked/irregular items in a future update.
But like I said, they can't identify who exactly edited the save file so far with so many items being traded. In Splatoon 2 they managed to ban people who edited their sea snails and clothing attributes, but in Animal Crossing? Anyone can trade and they can't identify where the items came from.

Turnip prices could be a flag they could use to identify hackers, but time travelling changes the prices as well.

Any news on a ban yet?
Not yet apparently.

After a couple months of being in the ACNH scene, I can say that save editing is somewhat safe —for now—, since Nintendo can't detect any changes you make as of the latest update. But to stay safe in the future, don't make changes that are impossible to replicate in the game. They could be developing an update that makes them easier to identify externally modified data, for all we know.
And yes, while they can identify what items/villagers might be illegal (e.g. star trees, test furniture, wrapped critters, villagers w/ incorrect items), they can't know who exactly hacked them (this itself was confirmed by Nintendo Japan apparently) because these items can be traded between islands. But still poses a risk, so don't do that.

I've been thinking of some possible flags they might use to correctly identify who's a hacker:
- turnip prices online above ~650; or turnip prices that don't follow a pattern correctly. If you edit turnip prices, use the prophet! (or don't edit them at all?)
- editing your map using NHSE. apparently there's an in-game counter of how many blocks you edit?
- Your achievements not matching your flags count, or setting your achievements to a weird date like 1750 (it is impossible to set a year previous to 2000 on your Nintendo Switch).
- having a villager with a different personality set in NHSE, even though this doesn't work since they're hardcoded, but it's still a variable you can set?
- enabling stuff that doesn't match your other achievements/flags. (example: enabling the nook shopping phone app flag, but you still haven't bought 100 items on the catalog).

Edizon cheats are NOT safe and if you enabled them online then you have already been flagged. If you used them, Nintendo has the power to ban you now.

Also, be careful of using CFW online at all. If you re-inject your save using JKSV, it's best that you go back to stock firmware if you want to play online.

What kind of a bad space do you have to be in in life to go to the trouble to cheat on Animal Crossing? There really shouldn't be anyone so troubled that they worry about being banned.

Everyone saying "going online with cfw is an instaban" is wrong and just trying to scare people
I'm nt banned after 37 days and i've done the most obvious shit ever
Stuff i've done:
Edit save files (turnip prices 660)
Ram edit invalid reactions into the wheel, even to the point it's crashed
Live inject WHILE playing online in OTHER people's towns
Spawn invalid items (wrapped fish, star trees, japanese items)
Use the "eat 10 fruit" and "phantom pooping" cheats from acnh poker once (connected to internet but in my own town)

I've been modifying turnip prices to an abysmal level for the past month and still haven't received a ban
what do you consider abysmal?

No one is saying it's an insta-ban. It's stuff that CAN be detected by Nintendo. It's up to them if they ban you or not.

The thought of a non hacked Switch being banned for connecting and interacting with a hacked Switch over local play is ridiculous. Can you imagine the sheer amount of backlash Nintendo'd face for laying the banhammer on people getting caught in the crossfire? What's more, imagine what this would entail for people with more malicious intentions. Imagine a gaming convention w/e and someone just for shiggles uses their hacked Switch to join an 8 people gathering. What'd happen then? Do those 7 people also get banned? Like passing around an infection intentionally. There's just not plausible way they could get away with banning clean Switches without extreme pushback from everyone pretty much.

kinda dumb to be judging people what they do with their game that (the majority anyway - paid for it and own it), don't you think? any editing any kind of save poses a ban risk, that's just common sense. this comment is totally unnecessary if you're just gonna bash all cheaters but you came here anyway.

Yeah, this has been discussed a lot and even Nintendo Japan confirmed they don't know where items come from exactly, so that's why they probably cannot ban people. They currently can't detect any changes on save files, but they might be able to flag a few people based on what its sent to online servers.

Also, I don't know why people get so defensive when you tell them "you might get banned for this" and they immediately say "No you're a liar and want to scare people" LOL I'm just trying to save your butt, you never know if Nintendo will use the banhammer using the telemetry they receive.
