Only if you have a slow download speed, you usually get to download the bulk of files before the release date, so when it officially releases, you only need to download one tiny file to unlock the game and get to play right away.

But you do not get anything like extra content or eshop coins?

Who stares at themes anyway ? I always find it funny that people wishes to customise something they look at a few seconds, time for selecting a game.

It adds to an appeal of the game and Console like what Sony does - yeh its no big deal but how long does it take to design a theme an hour or so and who signs ther name at the end of ther post we kno you posted it lol

sometimes the developer will offer a preorder discount it will say so in the description. if its 10% don't be fooled they add that to keep it on the top of lists for longer.

other than that no unless there's a bonus like other platforms pc/xbox/ps4 there's no point in pre-order digital item. they cannot run out of copies

Sometimes it's not even a few seconds, sometimes it's like 15 minutes deciding what to play, or multitasking and having a banger play

Sometimes you get extra coins but it has to mark the game as being available for that on the eshop. Preloading is basically you not wanting to download on release, all you do is start the game at the exact time it does so if the servers go down due to traffic, you're good.
