tbh I havent seen too much of an issue with Ali-express orders, although thats just buying already produced items, im sure having something actually manufactured is probably delayed, been lots of shortages of stuff like switches etc in shops, though thats probably more due to the 2 issues combined of unexpected demand combined with slower production causing big shortages

but stuff I have ordered from china have still been arriving within 2 weeks usually (probably going to jinx myself now as im still waiting on a few things) really annoyed that one of my items got delayed by stupid customs to charge £3 import tax and then slap £8 handling fees on top :glare: £8 to just look in a box and stick a bit of tape back on is obscene
I hate that with my customs as well. The tax are like so tiny it's not even worth taxing it. But the fee are like 8x the price of the time sometimes.

Another Spanish betatester installing the SX Lite:

Comments from the guy -who is in no way a soldering expert-:
- Very tedious to do the Lite, more solder points, less space to work
- You have to be extra careful and patient, since everything is tiny. He had to redo one of the solder points
- Use lots of flux
- The modchip is worth but Lite installation is definitely not recommended for noobs
- He doesn't know when the resellers will send the chips yet

p.s. I recommend watching this video even if you don't speak Spanish. The guy is very thorough and shows every detail of the installation process. He does a very good job and uses proper technique when doing stuff like cleaning the thermal compound.

Hi guys, I've been following this thread since its creation, but I don't remember to have seen an answer to something I'm in doubt: what is the ideal temperature for the soldering iron?

I'm asking because I've ordered (and they've just arrived) a soldering station, flux, digital microscope and a thermal paste to be ready when I finally receive my pre ordered unit.

In my first tests, I did some soldering and desoldering in an old computer DVD drive. I got better results with the iron at 600°F. At 400°F, I wasn't able to melt the soldering wire.

So, what do you guys think? Is 600°F a good temperature? Or should I try again with a lower temperature?

Thank you!

P.S.
The digital microscope is really helpful! At least I think that. I've not opened my console yet, so I'm not sure if the solder points are as tiny as the ones in the DVD drive, but if they are, I'm glad I've ordered one.

I expect to get mine around September, this whole story has dragged us along since Xmas. Installation looks very easy, nothing like PS2 cable jungles or x360 timings hell. Let's hope it all goes to production as it seems they're doing some software adjustments and the hardware must be complete as it is. My only worry is how much more heat will the modchip add on my non-mariko switch. This is something that will come up as more ppl install it and work on it during summer. If any other installation video pops up pls post a link here guys, thanks.

I don't think you'll have problems of temperature... it's a very simple microcontroler

Did someone ordered SX Core/Lite from xecuter-sx(dot)com? Are they affected from the lawsuit? They don't answer any questions and the chips are displayed as "sold out".
Does anyone know anything?

Yes me. I don't know, the only thing I know is that sx hasn't finished production yet and so they also didn't sent the production units so they (xecuter-sx(dot)com) haven't any stock actually.

Nintedo opened a lawsuit against:

anxchip.com
axiogame.com
flashcarda.com
mod3dscards.com
nx-card.com
sxflashcard.com
txswitch.com
usachips.com
Uberchips.com

But most of them (excluding uberchips) where based in China, so they're fine. They just changed domains and now will ship from China or South America and not from their USA/Canada warehouses, so shipping will take longer.

EDIT: So apparently xecuter-sx is cancelling the orders. Check the website.

So, no. xecuter-sx where not affected from the lawsuit.

IIRC, xecuter-sx(dot)com is displaying the sold out message and removed some elements from their shop concerning the chips, while they were protecting themselves to prevent any posible future legal action from Nintedo. They should be open in some days. This was along the lines what TX said, but don't quote me on that, because I can't find the source message.

I ordered from them.
Phew , I thought that russian reseller (Triada service ) is affected by it (they removed the modchip from their store page(perhaps to avoid nintendo's wrath)) . I hope to get my chip sooner or later.

Wait.. so xecuter-sx is shipping out their products or are you talking about the other sites you listed?
They canceled and refunded all pre-orders. Here’s their message:-

Triada-Service did that as a prevention of big N’s witch hunt, although i think they as well as Gorbushka in general don’t give a shit regarding legal actions from anybody. By phone they assured that they are waiting for shipment from China’s supplier and those who preordered will get modchips, but as everyone else they don’t give ETA.
