Should I use WD HDD or SSD for more compatibility on wii games because I was using a 32GB USB and it just worked for 1 time then it just won't want to work (I don't know if this offtopic)
Hello.:)

From personal Experience I can say - WD HDD.
They are really very compatible and reliable for the USBLoader GX.

Thank you.:)

I'd go with WD HDD.
SSD will not benefit from its speed, and it's more expansive for no reason if you use it for wii games only. use it for other things (PS4 external ? but you also need to change the internal to ssd to see improvement)
SSD could also not work, based on its brand/model.
At least we know WD HDDs are working, and even have a tool to edit the seen sector size (if you get a bigger than 2TB you'll be able to format it up to 16TB, which is not possible with other Brands)

@adli
oh, sorry I didn't see your answer before.

I'm glad you finally found a working device, so we can now be sure it's not a setup issue, but really a hardware & device problem.

You might have USB Port 0 issue, and if it's a power issue, you could try with an externally powered HDD ?
but if you don't have one yet, maybe you can also try with a Y-cable to get power from both ports?
if you could use port0 that would be better for game compatibility (because port1 works only with r53, which has bugs. Or hermes which doesn't support emuNAND, IOS reload block, and is a little old).

At least, you know port1 works, and you can play GC games :)

like you noticed, USBGX is only for USB.
Wiiflow let you play games from SD ! (up to 32GB SDHC, no SDXC!)

Did you try USBGX with your microSD plugged on USB port1?

same as the previous user, I would go with a WD HDD, they are known working.
if port0 need more power, and y-cable helps, it's all benefit.
if port1 is the only solution, it's already very very good alternative for wii games! r53 has some issues, but should work with most games. only very specific ones might not work (just dance? Kirby?)

ah, also, r53 might not work with games on SD card, so wiiflow will need r52 if you play from SD.

It's lot of small different setup combination due to your problem, but eventually when you remember all the requirement it should be fine to use your console.

Hello,

use an external hard drive, and everything will be fine. After you see the number of GO you want and the number of games you put.

My problem seems similar to many that are being seen here and I was wondering if I could get some advice.
I have a USB flash harddrive and all of my GameCube titles start fine. I have one title (DanceDanceRevolution3) that work as a USB load but none of my other titles work (marioPart8 is the title I have tried the most options with). The most common behaviour is tha the screen will simply go all white or all black. I have used both wiiflow and usbloaderGx as the game loader
I did a syscheck and it is here

Thank you for your sysCheck,it is ok,nothing to complain about.:D

You have tried other USBLoaders,so it is maybe the Flash Drive.

Have you please checked the following Points please ?

- is it connected to Port 0 ?
index.jpg
- is it formatted with FAT32 ? (I think so because NINTENDONT/GameCube Games are working as you said).
- did you always used the WiiBackup Manager for the Game Transfer from the PC to the Flash Drive ?
- your Wii ISO´s/Games are checked/verified and not corrupt/bad ?
(you can use this Online Site
or an Tool like this https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Wii_ISO_MD5_Generator and compare it on this Site please: https://www.gametdb.com/Wii/Search

Please have a Look on this Points and please be so kind and give us Feedback on your Progress.:)
Please consider your Flash Drive can also be incompatible for Wii Games/USB Loading.

Good Luck and
Thank you.:)

Thanks for the reply, I've just seen it a little late
I hadn't thought about the y-cable option, I don't have one lying around but I'll get one to see if it works and that way I'll know for sure whether it was a power issue.

I did try with the sd card (with the usb converter) in port 1 but I still got nothing.

The other thing that confuses me is that I've tried with r53 (on both 249 base 56 and 250 base 57) just like Cyan suggested but it still kicks me back to the menu. Could that be because it doesn't allow me to change to port 1 in the USBLoaderGX Hard Drive settings? I always get the "USB port changing is only supported on Hermes CIOS" message... And another thing is that while it always recognizes the HDD no matter the port as long as it's on IOS58, I've noticed that it doesn't detect it at first, goes to the 20 second countdown and then after that it detects it automatically every time. No sure whether that helps.

Anyway you guys have already helped out a lot so I really appreciate it.

Hey, so I've suddenly started having this problem with USB Loader recently. It used to work just fine but now it boots back to system menu when I choose a game.
I have priiloader installed and always have "Force Disk to run under IOS 249" checked in system menu hacks. All my wbfs files were transferred to my external HDD (FAT32) via Wii Backup Manager and they are all being recognized as per usual. I can run Gamecube games through Nintendon't just fine also. Any help would be appreciated.
Edit: Resolved. Seems like the USB port I have been using stopped working for the loader but the other one still works fine.

Hello.:)

You got a Recommendation from @Cyan and 1 User.:)

I switched to Transcend storejet 2.5 and still doesn't work idk why
I think this is not a WD HDD ? :)
Maybe your HDD needs more Power ?

Did you use USB Port 0 on your Wii ?
index.jpg

You can post a sysCheck if you like to see your Softmod is ok.
Which USBLoader and Version did you use please ?

Thank you.:)

Your sysCheck is good.:)

For USBLoader GX r1272 please try:

- Settings/Global Settings - Loader Settings - Loader´s IOS -> 58 or 249 (please restart the Loader after Changing)

You can also try a later Build:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/Releases/New revisions (3.0+)/

r1268 or 1271 are good.

or you can try @blackb0x Enhanced Mod:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/usb-loader-gx.149922/page-1316#post-8856063

Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Hi all,

I seem to be having a similar issue. I'm trying to remember what I actually did:
- Wii was working fine with USB Loader GX for months. All games on my HD worked fine.
- Then my nephew came by with a game for the kids and I decided to put the game on HD, so the kids don't have to change discs all the time.
- I tried to rip with USB Loader GX, but it hang at 24%, most likely because the HD was FAT32 formatted and thus stuck at 1 GB file size limit.
- So I installed clean rip and ripped with clean rip.
- Then my daughter came and pushed the eject button, because she wanted to see if the disc was in the Wii...
- Then I thought I'd just download the game (as I own the disc, I don't think there's a difference in downloading the disc and using it and ripping the disc and using it).
- So, I put the game on the HD with WII Backup Manager, and reattached the HD.
- The games show fine in the list, but on loading, I'm thrown back into the WII menu (or HomeBrew if starting USB Loader GX from HBC).

Then I started trying things:
- Format HD and installed games (HD is externally powered). HD formatted with WII Backup Manager and tried both WBFS and FAT32 (FAT32 always worked fine). Games installed on HD with WII Backup Manager. --> Result is the same.
- Tried both USB ports, makes no difference (HD was always connected to USB port 0).
- Tried other HD with both FAT32 and WBFS filesystem.
- Tried USB Flash Drive.
- Then I thought it could be the SD card, so I formatted it and put the files back on the SD card.
- SD Card and HD always removed after ejecting on Windows system.

But I'm stuck here. None of the games will load anymore. I don't see a difference with what I had before trying to rip the disc.
Any help would be appreciated.

Install Games mean you ripped them with CleanRip to ISO ?
USBLoader GX has sometimes Issues with"some" USB Devices (Flash Drives and Company to be precise) with the Install Option.
You can try to change to Loader´s IOS in the Settings - Loader Settings Loader´s IOS from 58 to 249.

By the Way,which USBLoader GX Version did you have please ?
Is your Game IOS set to 249 ?

Port 0 is always the correct Port for the HDD/USB Device.

A "Throwback" to the Homebrew Channel/System Menu can have many Reasons.

- which d2x cIOS Version/Base did you have installed in Slot 249 please ?
(A sysCheck from your Wii is maybe a good Idea -> https://gbatemp.net/threads/posting-a-system-check.300279/ )
- do you use the emuNAND Save Option from the USBLoader GX ?

- maybe you have "incomplete" or corrupted or Bad Dumps from your Games ?

Please have a Look on this Things and maybe be so kind and give us Feedback if you like.

Good Luck
Thank you.:)
