If you cannot get the n2DSXL to boot either SafeB9SInstaller or Luma3DS v7.0.5 configuration from the above, rehack it using the ntrboot method.

If you have another (o/n)(2/3)DS(i)(XL/LL)(phat/lite) with working DS(i) mode, you can get the R4iSDHC series flashcart and reflash it with ntrboot rom.
If you don't have another system, get instead the R4i Gold 3DS Plus that comes preflashed with a dual mode toggle switch.

Once the n2DSXL has working custom firmware where you can access GodMode9, repair the 3DS firmware + custom firmware with CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer. Carefully read and follow the Instructions.
