Nintendo Switch Online NES/SNES games for May 2020 revealed

It's been a while since we last got some classic retro titles added to the Nintendo Switch Online library. Next week, subscribers will see four new-old games added to the service, three Super Nintendo games and one original Nintendo Entertainment System game. On the NES front, you've got Rygar, a 1987 sidescrolling platformer, while the SNES lineup includes Wild Guns, Panel de Pon, and Operation Logic Bomb. These games will be available to play on May 20th.

If nintendo wants to fix their online service all we need, is voice chat with our friends switch already has this with fortnite, a way to send messages to our friends, trash friend codes they should never exist, have online tags like every other online service. Have dedicated servers for games, i still cant believe were paying for a peer 2 peer service. Virtual console, why isnt this a thing? Maybe a free indie game or 2 a month.

This would turn Nintendo around when it comes to online. I believe they will understand 2 generations from now, with nintendo its 2 steps forward 1 step back.

boi that's because streets of rage 4 isn't a full triple a title and the other ones are

It just just doesn't justify paying $60 for a 3 year old game. I heard Nintendo say the games are "timeless" thats why they structure the price like that. It must be dreadful as a switch owner buying games at full thats why I go on Ebay, Offerup or wait until black friday to buy switch games. I bought like 9 games in total for my switch for atleast $200

i think he'll always be popular its just when nintendo run out of ideas and begin to see sales dropping regular but then thers always gonna a new generation of gamers coming along who hav never pld a mario game - but it wil be interesting to see how mario games wil end up looking like say in 30 years time if ther stil making games by then :D

Mario and Pokemon I see them being extinct in the next 10 years. Pokemon is on its last legs as much as I liked Pokemon Sword when you compare it to legacy games so much content was cut out just to be rehased on DLC. The only good thing about the future is the potential emulators that may be around to replay evreything

Yeah, it's not ideal. It's got me trying games i never would have...but just out of sheer lack of options. I'm not sure it's a good thing or a bad thing.
Wouldn't call it a bad thing. Compilations are a mixed bag of things. Just like when you go "Trick or Treat" you get some candy you may like and may not like. They are things you may not even known about or didn't think to buy. But it's now in your possession to try.

Back when I got something like Sonic Mega Collection on gamecube, it was amazing to be able to play Sonic games on there. Then they had extra games on there I never knew about like Dr.Robotnik Mean Bean machine, Flicky, Ristar, Comix Zone & The ooze. I didn't know any of those extra games on there but it was the first time I played them and because of my impulse to buy Sonic games, least I know more about the "Less familiar side" of Sega's Legacy. :P

At least we got Panel de Pon.
This! In my opinion the greatest puzzle game ever made, in its purest version (and the best one too, give me Lip over Yoshi anyday!) As someone who (at the moment) isn't interested in modding his Switch, this news has made my day! Not entirely sure it'll play well in handheld mode though (I'm very fussy when it comes to controllers when playing Panel De Pon!)

To anyone arguing 'yOu hAvE tO ReBuY GaMeS yOu OwN' - are you stupid?? You own them on another console. What keeps you from playing them on said console???
They offer the same games on a different console, for users that did not own them before.

But the games for may are a punch in the face. What are they thinking? The worst possible choice, just an insult to the users. Nintendo is almost trolling at this point.

Seeing how fast the sm64 port got ported to run on switch, I'm surprised nobody has ported a more modern MAME over yet. MAME has had perfect emulation of KI for years...
Well, the one on xbox one has online multiplayer. It was ported by "CODE MYSTICS" which is a good thing. They are responsible for some good stuff like those SNK games that feature online multiplayer with praise worthy netplay. And their recent offerings, Neo Geo pocket color games for switch. :P

nintendo just give us a virtual console already
But where will they get their $20 a year from hundreds of thousands of people?

Honestly, Nintendo could be winning so much harder if they just opened the floodgate on classic console titles and gave you tiered access to the library, discounts on select titles or bundles month-by-month to permanently own (scaling higher for subscribers), online multiplayer, and an affordable solution to hook up the SNES/NES Classic (mini) console controllers, or affordable wired SNES/NES controllers, also N64 games and hardware. I wonder if they have as much trouble executing N64 emulation as homebrew devs do on other consoles.

This is just my opinion; but if Nintendo keeps screwing up like this, the more emulation will become appealing to the masses. I know countless people who would rather patch a rom of Fire Emblem on the super famicom, and play it on their PC than go through the hurdles of making a Japanese Nintendo account, and play it on the switch through "legal" means.

also add the "play the game in japanese" part.

News is news. If you don't like it then don't play/pay for it. Plus, it's 4 games. Read before complaining
I read. I disliked. I expressed criticism. I am a huge Nintendo fan , but I am righlty frustrated by their lackluster offerings even compared to their past systems.

Don’t forget that if you have two Switches linked to the same Nintendo ID, you CANNOT use play online with both of them at the same time! The same goes for DLC! Those cavemen at Nintendo are still trapped in the Stone Age! It’s 2020 boys! Get your heads in the game!
