If you reboot the system do you get the molecule splash screen?
If you go to system settings does it show a Henkaku tab?
In system info is it showing version as 3.60 変革?

Sounds like it's just a corrupt install of Vitashell, judging by the posts on that Reddit thread.

edit
I'll be AFK for a while, but I'll hopefully be back to help out soon if no one else steps in with assistance

DolcePolce is essentially just a whitelister to re-eanble titles that rely on the handhelds features that aren't found on the PSTV... most titles can be played fine this way with a bit of configuring. But I presume that the Katamari game requires more specific tweaks, hence the dedicated patch.

That makes sense, Katamari must have some control that may be a problem with PSTV (sorry didn't played on vita/pstv) it's not really a problem to be launched or not

For the PSTV, if you boot it without anything in gamecard (SD2VITA or GAME) and memory card, are you still getting henkaku settings or 3.60 変革-11 ? If that's the case enso is working. So you don't need to reinstall it.
But if vitashell still doesn't want to launch, just format the internal storage (check again you have nothing in gamecard or memory card slot), then redo the tutorial from https://vita.hacks.guide/installing-henkaku to get molecular shell back (press R while launching exploit part).
Then you can get vitashell back by following the rest of tutorial (do not reinstall enso !!)

The Henkaku installer tells me "no memory card installed, skipping installation of molecule"
Is this because I have nothing in the Vita cart slot or is it because I was unable to unlink the memory card before downgrading?

If the sd2vita is correctly configured as being ux0 you should be able to insert it and go to "format memory card" in the settings.
Once formatted you should be able to get 'shell installed.

Good news regards the Katamari game - the game, patch, and dlc all install fine via the pkgj app and work on PSTV. The touch controls are replaced by the emulated L2/R2 L3/R3 controls - not as simple and intuitive as touch screen, but they get the job done.

This seems strange to me, as it should be using the PSTV's internal storage if there's no memcard or sd2vita in the system.
I'd be tempted to do a factory reset and start fresh following the guide to the letter... not sure if you'd need to uninstall enso first though.
Another thing to try first though might be using a different microsd card, or formatting the existing one and rewriting the zzblank.img

The formatting screen only displays the internal Memory card of 1GB. Is this right?

I'm gonna presume that the sd2vita isn't correctly configured. Unfortunately you need vita shell working to set it up correctly
I still don't understand why it won't install it to the internal storage.
I'm on my mobile device at the mo so it's a bit tricky for me to search for the answers, but investigate if it's safe to factory reset with enso installed. If so, go ahead with that without the sd2vita in the system. And reconfigure storagemgr and the sd2vita when you have vita shell running on the internal storage.

I reinstalled VitaShell and now I was able to launch it. Maybe Ensō is broken? I don't know if I should retry installing it too..

No don't reinstall enso it's working fine. Problem was there until you formatted the internal storage right ? Already happened to me when on PSTV when downgrading, had to format the internal storage to make vitashell sd2vita back to track. You just have to follow the tutorial from here now :
https://vita.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup
I already did all this :)
How should I proceed about fixing sd2vita and installing the Katamari patches?

At the end of the guide you have a link that explain how to setup your SD2Vita
https://vita.hacks.guide/storagemgr

Also double check you only have tai folder on ur0 and not on internal storage or SD2vita and you will be fine
Ah, nice, all the homebrews and such are back now. Thanks!

Do I need the latest PKGj app for this?

Yes. I'd advise getting the latest version of the Vita Homebrew Browser from here; https://github.com/devnoname120/vhbb/releases ...with that you'll be able to install a lot of the most essential apps (including pkgj) directly from the system.
Another app I'd recommend that can't be found on VHBB is the Auto Plugin app, which can be found here; https://github.com/ONElua/AutoPlugin2/releases ...it makes finding, installing, and configuring plugins really simple.

As an example, here's my tai config file from my PSTV. If you'd like to know what any of them are just ask ;)
Code:
# For users plugins, you must refresh taiHEN from HENkaku Settings for
# changes to take place.
# For kernel plugins, you must reboot for changes to take place.

*KERNEL
ur0:tai/storagemgr.skprx
ur0:tai/nonpdrm.skprx
ur0:tai/0syscall6.skprx
ur0:tai/repatch.skprx
ux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/adrenaline_kernel.skprx
ur0:tai/custom_boot_splash.skprx
ur0:tai/lolicon.skprx
ur0:tai/nopsmdrm.skprx
ur0:tai/noPsmWhitelist.skprx
ur0:tai/itls.skprx

ur0:tai/download_enabler.suprx

ur0:tai/reRescaler.suprx

*PCSG00141
ur0:tai/remaPSV.suprx

*ALL
ur0:tai/InfiniteNet.suprx
ur0:tai/dsmotion.suprx
*I have remaPSV and reRescaler set to only operate with certain titles, as I found having them under 'main' or 'all' caused some titles to either crash or not boot at all.
The only ones that I'd consider "essential" are storagemgr, nonpdrm (allows running 'decrypted' content), 0syscall6 (allows running content that requires a higher fw than the system is running. reF00d does the same thing) and repatch (for running patches, such as translations, undubs, mods etc).
My ur0 is the internal storage, and ux0 is SD2Vita. I don't have an official memcard in the PSTV, and no external usb storage, so configuring it this way means I still have tai if I remove SD2Vita to run legit gamecards.

Installed VHBB and AutoPlugin. Also updated PKGj via VHBB. I have put the Katamari patch file on ux0. How do I install hem to ur0 now? Couldn't find any option for that. Also is there an option I can choose whether to install some App on ur0 or ux0? I'd like to dump some carts but since Virtual GC is on ux0 it won't be accessible once SD2Vita is removed

You don't need a patch for Katamari (and the one you got from Reddit would only work with a Maidump of the game, not the NoNPDRM version from pkgj). The patch I mentioned when I installed it is the update patch that pkgj auto installs along with the game.

As for switching locations... it's possible but it's a bit of a pain where you'll be dealing with constant database rebuilds or having to backup and reload the homescreen layout to avoid the rebuilds.
Similarly, in terms of cart dumping, it's quicker and easier to just install via pkgj. You'd also need the modded version of nonpdrm to allow you to dump stuff.
I think the install location should just be a config somewhere, but I've never needed to mess with mine.

Oh, I see now. Well, installing the patch results in an error code. Download the game + patch neither works (stuck at 23MB)

Yeah, when I downloaded Katamari last night it stuck at 23mb for a while, then progressed for a bit, then paused again... stick with it, you should get it eventually - I think it took about 30-45mins for me.

Installing the actual cart won't either work because VirtualGC is installed on ux0. Launching VirtualGC causes errors probably because SD2Vita is in the game cart slot :/
