So I got this crazy idea to play the Final Fantasy series in chronological order. I want to be able to play it all on my DS with gba expansion. I rather like to play the remakes for gba then the more original snes or nes games. So i'm trying to make a list... (and for now i think it is best to exclude the tactics games and all the other final fantasy side stories, but correct me if i'm wrong)

-------------main story-----------------------
1. Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls GBA
2. Final Fantasy III NDS
3. Final Fantasy IV Advance GBA
4. Final Fantasy V Advance GBA
5. Final Fantasy VI Advance GBA

6. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (now playing this

, didnt start correct thats for sure)

------------Tactics-----------------
1. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance GBA
2. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: The Sealed Grimoire

---------------????------------------
4. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
5. Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales

Oh, I dont want to play all the DIFFERENT remakes and original of different chapters (?), 1 is enough

and it would be nice if it where (US/EU) releases.

for the first 6, looks good. Although... I do recommend, if you have a PSP, play FF1 and FF2 on the PSP, it looks much nicer and is worth carrying around the extra handheld... if you have it.

I'm actually doing the same thing you are doing
FFI : PSP
FFII : PSP
FFIII : NDS
FFIV : NDS (if it ever comes out) otherwise GBA
FFV : GBA
FFVI : GBA

Anyways, good luck with it.

I did the same thing, except every FF game, across all consoles.

I forgot how much the Gameboy ones sucked. I feel cold. :'(
Also, stay away from Crystal Chronicles. I wouldn't waste the poop it would take to shit on that.

I have a question about FF1 (i started playing)

should it feel like beeing dropped out of an airplane of the CIA in some unknown African country and you have no idea what do but given alot of choices...

that is how i feel. and that is why i normaly stop playing these kind of rpg's. But i will try to be strong

Yeah I got totally lost playing FFI. I walked over an imaginary line in the world map where the monsters jump from beatable to super-crazy-insane-you-shouldn't-be-here-yet and got totally lost, skipped it and moved on to FFII. I'll go back someday

Well, I thought FF1 was pretty straightforward. I haven't consulted a FAQ when I was playing it, only peeked once to find out how long I had till I could upgrade my job classes.

I already looked once on gamefaqs for a map, only to find out that B + select gives you a map

EDIT#1

FF1; after 10:31 hours of playing this game I came to the conclusion: I don't like an open world setting if almost all the missions and the overal story (wich isnt interesting) is as liniar as it can be.

sound and visuals I do like... And let's put it this way Random encounters does make you gain experience fast

So bye bye Final Fantasy 1, FF2 here I come!
