I didn't want to create a whole new topic so i'll post my question here. It's been a while since i've custom firmware and haven't really touched my Switch for a while now. I would like to restore the Switch to its original state completely and play online again. At the time i did make a Nand backup so i still have that saved on my pc. I never ever went online after using CFW. I understand there could still be a possibility for a ban and i'll take those chances but my question is;

How do i go about restoring my Switch to its original state? I can't really find any in depth guides or tutorials on youtube that explain how to restore the switch to its original state when you have the original Nand backup and how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction of the right step to follow to start this process?
You just restore your NAND backup with Hekate. The files goes in the backup/(eMMC serial number)/restore folder. If you do not have this folder structure, just try restoring the NAND with Hekate and after it fails, it will create the proper folder structure for you.

I have a modded Switch that hasn't been banned, here are a few notes about it. Hope these are useful:

- 2017 Switch running 10.0.2 and Atmosphère 0.12
- All games legally purchased from eShop
- First booted Atmosphère in late 2018
- No sigpatches ever used
- Homebrew booted from Homebrew Menu only, no modded .nsps installed
- Modded saves only for offline games
- Never cleared error logs
- System monitor overlay used when connected to the Internet (but not during online gameplay)
- EdiZon overlay used only when offline, completely uninstalled when playing online
- System updates, game updates, eShop installs, and online multiplayer only done when booted in stock sysNAND mode
- eShop and online multiplayer all accessible

What's the consensus on physical cart bans? all the info I'm finding is pretty old.
They exist but people aren't so stupid nowadays. Don't dump the certificate or inject it into other games and you will be fine. There are good reasons why .XCI file dumps do not include the certificate.

It's basically proven that a cert ban carries over to a physical cart right?

So pirates are just being good samaritans and not reselling carts after dumping certs?
Maybe, maybe not. What I can say is that if they were, we would hear more certificate bans. The reason I say this is because this way, its also possible to get unhacked consoles banned because it can become possible for normal users to buy a secondhand cartridge that had its cert dumped and used regularly online.

So, I have my friends switch running the latest fw with the latest atmosphere. He wants to buy animal crosssing via eshop to play online, his sysnand hasn't been touched since he's been using emunand whenever he wanted to mod a game.
Does he need to use a seperate sd card when he boots into sysnand to buy/play AC or is it okay to keep his current one?

Depends how safe he wants to be.

It should be safe to use the same SDcard. However, no one can be certain how safe for how long. There is also always a small chance of accidentally booting into cfwsys. That too should be safe but again nobody can be 100%.

Separate SDcard is the safest way. Although, probably overkill but better to be too safe than not safe enough if you don't want a banned unit.

Thanks , that was my understanding as well.

Won't the hekate files need to be on the Stock SYSNAND sd card if they are seperated anyway due to autorcm?

Also is updating sysnand while using autorcm risky?

If using Autorcm and Hekate you will need all the same files yes. On the plus side you can setup auto boot for both SD cards so there is no risk of launching the wrong FW.

No risk to updating while on Autorcm. It just won't burn fuses but that doesnt really matter.
